The location of the hotel is very good, the facilities are modern, the room is not too big, clean and tidy, the front desk is very friendly, there is no Uber in the local area, and the front desk helps to call taxis.

all in all a good hotel and a great experience. My room was spacious with a beautiful view. The hotel restaurant/bar had great food and a lively scene. Staff was friendly and informative. A few quibbles: 1. the fitness room was TINY-- 2 people in there made it seem crowded. I usually go for a walk or a run outside but the weather was terrible (pretty typical for the area!) and the 2 treadmills were constantly in use. Strange for a hotel that seems to cater to young professionals. 2. No room service!!! again-- strange for a business hotel. 3. Why not have an ice machine on every floor??

Amazing location. The hotel is close to all the attractions. Also we had a lovely view of the cruise terminal. The staff at the hotel were incredible. They were friendly and welcoming. Rooms were top notch. Tastefully decorated and extremely comfortable. We loved our stay at St. John’s and this hotel truly made it most memorable. Highly recommended and will visit soon

Great stay! The rooms were very clean, had extremely comfortable beds. The staff were exceptional. So helpful, and always had smiles on their faces. The view from our room, and the conference room, was stunning. The restaurant will not disappoint!

The best place to stay in St. John’s! Located on the historic Water Street with amazing things to do and see on either side of the street. Close to the downtown bars and restaurants. Most tours pick up from here and if you booked a boat tour- walkable to the pier. Amazing spacious rooms that are very modern, beautiful and clean.

Excellent, knowledgeable, staff and fantastic room. Clean. Location was perfect and walkable to all sites. Front desk had spot on recommendations and our room had a lovely view of the harbour. Coffee and snacks at the cafe were fantastic. I would stay here again, hands down.

Beautiful room, great staff, delicious food, walking distance to the main *****. I love this hotel, I like this brand and plan on staying there again. Highly recommend it. We only stayed one night but would have stayed longer had our plans allowed for it. Try the breakfast sandwiches !

I had the privilege of staying here 4 or 5 days in August. OMG, if I had been the Queen of England I could not have been treated better! My cell phone did not work while I was there and I had to rely on them for so many tasks. Dinner reservations, locating directions to many places, hours of operation of various places, airline information, etc. Even my laundry came back perfect! They were all so cheerful and gracious and never acted put upon. To name a few, Lauren, Justin, John, Natalia, Jordan and of course Bailey who deserves a special shout out for exceptional service above and beyond! The Alt is a modern hotel perfectly situated in Downtown St. John's and is well within walking distance of scores of shops and great restaurants, including incredible Terre on the main floor. I was really sad to leave but brought home with me so many wonderful memories.

I cannot say enough good things about my 9 day stay in July/August 2024. I was impressed by the view (highly recommend the panoramic harbourview), the cleanliness of the room, the comfy bed and black out blinds, and most of all the friendly staff. I could not have loved the puffin in my room more. The high tech features in the room are very cool. I am also impressed by their efforts to be eco-friendly. If you can’t find the drawer for storing your belongings, it’s built into the bed (I completely missed it the first day). I found the restaurant pricey with limited choices so I only ate there once (my breakfast was excellent). The café had delicious coffee. There’s a fabulous sitting area at the back of the hotel that gives a great harbour view. The mural in the lobby is beautiful and worth a stop to look at the amazing pictures of Newfoundland and Labrador. The location was excellent as I did not have a car. The Alt was a pick-up spot for my tours and there were many restaurants and attractions within walking distance. There’s at least one major grocery store that is about a 17 min walk. My flight was in the evening so I very much appreciated being given a late check out. I was there as a solo traveler and felt safe my entire stay. I would be happy to return here one day.
