Gallows Point Resort

We arrived at Gallows Point two days before we were set to get married, and the suite was gorgeous inside and out. Initially, we encountered issues with the advertised amenities, including satellite TV, WiFi, and telephone services. There were troubleshooting sheets to get the TV and Wi-Fi to work, and we went through the process multiple times without success. On the day after our wedding, we asked the front desk (we couldn't call them, because our phone was dead), and they said they would send someone over. The maintenance crew arrived approximately 24 hours later. They informed us that both the telephone and satellite TV in our suite were not working due to an issue that had occurred during the renovations. They managed to run a hard-wired device through one of our windows and onto the bar in the kitchen, which enabled us to have WiFi on day 5 of our stay, finally. It would have been nice to know these things weren't working when we checked in. We also had in-suite massages on the day after our wedding. Friends who gifted the massages also purchased a basket with a bottle of Prosecco, crackers, and cheese through the concierge, which was to be delivered after the massage (approximately 5:30 on the Saturday of our stay). After waiting for a while to avoid missing the delivery, we went to the front desk. We were instructed to visit the Gallows Point Gift & Gourmet to inquire about it, and the employee working there went to the back room to assemble a basket for us to take back, without explaining why it had not been delivered. Throughout our stay, the maintenance and cleaning staff were absolutely fantastic, but the individuals working the front desk seemed annoyed whenever we asked a question. Additionally, we stayed in Suite 01D, which proved to be located near the Gallows Point transit van, which began operating early in the morning. Each time they returned, there was the loud beeping as they backed into their parking spot. In the future, I would stay on the other side of the resort, so I could sleep in, as this woke me early every day. The grounds and suite were great, but the lack of communication about non-working amenities and terse employees at the front desk marred the overall trip.

We have been coming to St. John since 1994. We’ve seen a lot of changes since that first visit. Gallows Point was Always our favorite place to stay - until now. Prices have climbed to almost astronomical, but we continued because we loved it so much!! This time, no live tv. Telling us something about changing out cable boxes & we can get Roku. Nope! Nothing works!! Might as well b on a secluded island! Electricity went off Most of our visit. Truly disappointing! Won’t b staying here again!

Think twice before booking this "luxury" resort Really bummed to write this review but Gallows was a supreme letdown. From the attitude of the front desk staff when we arrived early and asked to leave luggage while we killed 4 hours downtown (something we had floated on the phone the day before and begrudgingly told it would be fine) to the ABYSMAL attitude of the older white woman at the Gift Shop to the very dingy and extremely dated room... everything was just such a letdown. The one time we tried the restaurant, they were out of half of the dishes on the very odd menu and had no olives for martinis that night. The rest of the dishes just didn't even sound appetizing so we left and never returned. Again, the woman at the Gift Shop was so rude, I genuinely thought she was doing a bit. She wouldn't even make eye contact with me as I stood in front of the register and when I said something held her finger up as she continued to work on her laptop for another 5 minutes. It was like an SNL skit she was so unbelievably rude. What hospitality program did you snag that gem from? In all seriousness, GM - please have a friend go in there and pretend to be a guest and hear first hand how laughable the service there is. Our room had appliances that hadn't been updated since the 80s. Not a problem as we ate out every night but the dirty furniture, polyester sheets, yellow towels, dirty walls (please go look at all the mildew, dings and stains ALL over the walls in 10C, not to mention the dead cockroaches stuck in between the screens
