Lovely place to stay. Breakfast was really good and the evening meal, too. Room was very nice and comfortable. It has all the extras of a 5 star except a gym/shop/pool which, to be honest, do people really use those? Even in October the garden was beautiful. Very well placed for a visit to the Eden Project.

We had a wonderful stay in the Waterwheel Inn. There was a mixed-age family group and we were all well catered for. The rooms were very comfortable with good facilities. The staff were so friendly, helpful and accomodating. Lovely garden. The food was first rate and very plentiful! Would strongly recommend.

Perfect in every way. We had room 15 and it was comfortable, quiet and we stayed 2 nights. The full English breakfast was superb and hats off to Francesca for looking after us (all rooms booked) and Mark for his initial welcome. Would not hesitate to stay again.

Super friendly hotel , very well appointed rooms with nice decor . Extremely comfortable king size bed . A quality breakfast with a variation of whatever you want . Good selection of drinks behind the bar and comfy sofas . The garden is not to be missed , it's like a tropical rainforest, I sat in the summerhouse and had my breakfast cuppa each morning. Finally , you are made to feel special , by all the staff , from the top to the bottom , no one is glum ,all staff greet you with a smile . Would I re visit , yes in a heartbeat. On the plus side St Austell is an ideal base to visit other parts of Cornwall.

We had stayed at The Waterwheel in May, and felt so well cared for that we decided to have a further week in early August. We ate in each night, dining very well on the regular menu dishes or the specials. The room was clean and comfortable, the bar area very restful with its roomy sofas, and the staff could not do enough for us. Going into the garden is a step into another world of running water, palms, giant ferns and a mixture of local and exotic planting, held together by the micro-climate that exists there. In summary, we felt we had made absolutely the right decision to return, and thank Francesca, Marc, Stan the Chef, Donna, Wendy, Jay and Amy and all their colleagues for their genuine interest in all their guests.

We had a lovely time here, staved 4 nights. We did wonderful hikes along the coast, took the car to Plymouth one day and just enjoyed being in this beautiful part of the world. The garden is beautiful and the breakfast was really good, we didn't even have to eat lunch :) since we were so full. We had dinner at the hotel one night and it was really tasty and not expensive at all. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The bed was a bit smaller than we're used to, but all in all we are super happy with our stay and will come back again!

The inn is surrounded by the most amazing subtropical garden. We had a room with a Juliet balcony from where we could look over the palms, ferns and succulents whilst listening to a waterfall. The room was very comfortable with all the expected amenities. Breakfast was lovely with decaf and vegetarian options. I would recommend the waffles! Friendly staff and a great location to explore St Austell from.

When you enter the Waterwheel Inn, you are greeted by the most wonderful Labrador Kernow, and an invitation on the wall to become a friend as well as a guest. This was our third stay at this charming B and B, and the first since the completion of a beautifully built and furnished extension, making 16 rooms in total. The whole place has a wonderful relaxed atmosphere, enhanced by the efforts of the Owners Mark and Francesca, who work tirelessly to make guests feel at home. The food we had (breakfast and dinner) could not be faulted, and this time having good weather we were able to enjoy drinks in the beautiful garden area. Perfect! Oh my goodness, I have just realised I wrote this review in 2017, and must have forgotten to press SUBMIT. Old age ! However we have just come to the end of our 4th visit here, and I decided to write another review…. Hence my discovery. Although we haven’t seen Kernow this time, he is still around. This time we treated ourselves to a beautiful room on the Ist floor of the extension with views across the wonderful garden full of ferns. The food was excellent, we enjoyed breakfast and dinner when family joined us.Such a warm welcome from Francesca and Mark, and all the staff so friendly. We will return.
