Valamar Meteor Hotel

The Valamar Meteor hotel was in a great location right by the beach and near the old town. The view was nice and the room was clean. Breakfast is also great !! The sunset is beautiful !!

Amazing hotel. We don't do hotels but as first time here we took that route. Rooms are small but you're not in them all day. Staff are brilliant. Breakfast is what you want or not it's included. Plenty for families in here and round resort. On the beach. Very central. Wee fridge in room for your own things. No sunbed wars but there can be. Bathrooms are adequate with toiletries. Hot water on tap. Cleaning every day if you want but not necessary. Air con is . Can't upgrade rooms at reception though. You have to go online and pay full price despite having paid already. So when choosing this hotel make sure you ask for the room you want. There are bigger ones but not many. Kids toys like mini bikes,scooters etc are on reception floor but stairs could be a hazard. Never seen entertainment but can here it but not loud enough to not sleep. Balcony doors are soundproof unless opened. I would definitely recommend here. There's so much to do. Big kids club for folks with wee ones. All staff we have spoken to or engaged with have been extremely helpful. Plenty shops around for extras as in supermarkets, bakery etc. You won't be disappointed.

A really lovely family oriented hotel with great service and an abundance of facilities. We chose this hotel for the location , star rating and facilities ( especially for our 12 year old son ) The rooms are well thought out and we had a fantastic view of Makarska and the sea beyond - a great view was another reason for our stay here . The social and public areas are very clean and tidy , n xx to the reception level you will find a landscaped upper terrace with padded sofas , comfortable chairs and seating areas along with a free day beds , this area tends to be used in the evening to have a drink outdoors and listen to the live music which plays around 20.30 to 22.30 . It’s easy listening and not too loud - just right for an evening relaxing . Below this is the pool area - a long infinity pool stretching in front of the shore with a borrow pedestrian promenade between the pool and the pebble beach . There is also a baby pool and a kids pool with splash area and a slide ( I would say for kids between 5-10 ) as the water is quite shallow - my son is 12 and he could not use the slide as the water was too shallow at the bottom and he hurt his knees - but there’s plenty of areas suitable for all ages to swim - we especially liked the indoor pool - which is massive and is to the side of the other pools at street level but not overlooked due to a nicely landscaped area I. Front with day beds and sun loungers - the doors to the pool area can be opened and there are sun loungers around the pool which were always available. You can struggle to get a lounger at the infinity pool between 10am -4pm but we preferred to spend that time of the day out and about or at the quieter indoor pool area . The pool bar and cafe was kept clean and tidy offering cold drinks and snacks / lunch burgers , sandwiches and salads . The staff were always friendly despite it being busy . The Kids club - Maro was split into 3 ages ranges Baby Mini (2-7 yrs ) Maxi (7-12yrs) The animation team were really friendly without being over bearing and took time to talk to all the children , they did well at understanding each age range needs and treated them accordingly- a great way to engage the kids and make them feel included. There is also a fab area next to kids club with pool tables , fuseball and - games room with 5X PS4/5 consoles . Along with Darts , board games and a table tennis table near the reception . There are tricycles and a soft play area for parents to play with their children around the reception area . This hotel is extremely family oriented . The breakfast buffet was always fresh and plentiful - with lots of choices from fruits , cereals and pastries to sausage bacon eggs , pancakes , cheeses , cold meats , even an entire honeycomb!! Including cold juices , water and hot beverages. The service was excellent and tables were kept clean and tidy - always tables available and breakfast ran between 7-10am. There is a spa and fitness room along with a small ****** / slo

Best in town location, spectacular view up and down from the hotel. Comfortable rooms, kind and professional staff. Excellent cuisine. In peak times of the year some can feel crowded especially around sun beds. Great Maro club for the kids.

Great location. On the beach and a 7 minute walk into Makarska Port with lots to do. Bars and restaurants are on your doorstep. The setting is beautiful with the mountains in the background. The infinity pool has amazing views looking onto the promenade and beach. Food was very good, all of the staff who we came across were excellent. The resort was very busy which is not for everyone. We were a group of 10 with 5 children ranging from 11-17 yrs so the liveliness worked well. Downsides would be the sunbed situation. For the infinity pool, people start queuing at 8.20am for a 9am opening. The queuing system wasn’t managed and when the pool staff gave the nod at 9am, people ran to get the sunbeds they wanted, negotiating sunbeds, tables and other obstacles in their way. As a group of 10, we had to join the race to have a chance of getting sunbeds together or near. However, most people we met were in groups or 2 or 4 and felt they had to do the same. It really did feel like a sports day race and together with the people we met whilst waiting together each morning, we were able to joke about the situation. But, in all seriousness, this was unacceptable. It added unnecessary time and stress aswell as being a health and safety hazard. There must be a better way! The loungers on the beach were all taken by 7.30am and hotel guests were charged 8 Euros a day. Non guests had the same access to the loungers (at a cost of 14 Euros) which felt very unfair on hotel guests. We booked superior inter-connecting family rooms and they were small and did not not feel 4 star or superior! The bathrooms were small and dated with a shower over the bath. For my 78 year old mother, this was difficult to access. All in all we did enjoy our holiday, but probably wouldn’t go back there. For the price, it lacked the touches you would expect from a 4-star, which we have had at other hotels.

Paradise for kids, full of games, programs and 2 kids pool. Buffet breakfast and buffet dinner both are good and they make effort to change up the menu everyday. Location is convenient and central.the board walk along the coast are nice and full of options for food and tours

Stayed at one of the suites. The first suite we got had a really small balcony and the rooms were quite small with little room except for the bed. Did not feel like a suite and not worth the money. Upgraded and that room was much bigger with big balcony. That room was great. Would be great to have a service to choose my room from a map, e.g similar to Accor or Hilton

We stayed at the Valamar Meteor for 2 weeks during July in high season, as a family of 5. The hotel is in a perfect location, with direct access to the beach and makes an ideal base for exploring the Makarska region. We hired a car to explore the area and it was no problem to park in the hotel car park which is directly across from the entrance. We very much enjoyed the outdoor infinity pool and the indoor pool was also excellent for an afternoon swim if the sun was very hot outside. The staff are all very friendly and helpful, especially Kristina in the restaurant whose customer service skills are fantastic! My son loved chatting to her every morning at breakfast! We stayed on a half board basis and thought that the food quality and choices were perfect. We would definitely return and would recommend everyone to choose this hotel
