Hopkins Ordinary Bed, Breakfast and Ale Works

Our group of 10 had an amazing stay at Hopkins Ordinary!! The hosts were so welcoming and everything from the check-in, rooms and cottage, amenities, breakfast and brewery was top notch!! We will be back and highly recommend this for an stress-free weekend!!

Everything about our stay was perfect! Olivia and Katie are extremely friendly, outgoing, and hospitable, immediately making us feel at home. I have stayed in a number of historic inns, B&Bs, and hotels and generally, they tend to be a bit tired. The complete opposite is true of Hopkins Ordinary. Renovations to the building give it a fresh clean look and feel but at the same time it has a great historic vibe to it. Our room was well appointed and comfortable, and surprisingly large. And, the brew pub in the basement is an added bonus! Don’t forget the second ”B” in B&B… a delicious homemade breakfast! Highly recommend Hopkins Ordinary!

Hopkins Ordinary is a lovely, very comfortable bed and breakfast run by wonderful hosts Olivia and Katie (along with they friendly four-legged companion). It is located in the peaceful village of Sperryville with easy walking distance to the shops and restaurants. It has the added bonus of a cozy, alehouse and wine bar downstairs that appears to have become a frequent haunt by guests and locals alike. We intend to return.

From the ease to check in and out, to the free first drinks at the pub, this B &B is warm and friendly. The house pet, Norman, a friendly Beagle whose primary job is greeting, got to love his bowtie collar. While not "fancy or stuffy" but super clean and very comfortable. We stayed in the smallest room in the house and really enjoyed the well appointed simplicity of the room. No TV. What a refreshing concept to actually have silence in the world to truly relax so close to the mountains. What a surprise, a nice large DOUBLE faceted walk in shower! A couples delight for those romantic stays. Breakfast was generous portions and tasty, with drink options. A southern, 2 story porch is truly a find with comfortable seating and tables for your snacks and drinks. You will find the upstairs entry for ease close to your room. Downstairs with an outside entry you will find the party at the Ale Works Bar with a large side room that has plenty of games in the event the weather isn't so pleasant. Outside there is a Bier Garden with ample seats and shade! Within a short walking distance to several great food and drink options this B&B should be on your list to visit soon!

This was our third stay at Hopkins Ordinary, and it remains one of our favorite B&Bs. This time was similar to our other stays. We arrived and enjoyed trying some ales from the on-site brewery; we sat in the shady biergarten in the backyard. We walked to one of the nearby restaurants for dinner, took a short walk along the creek after dinner, and then relaxed on our room's private balcony when we returned. We slept well in the comfortable bed and enjoyed a delicious breakfast in the dining room.

This was my second time staying at Hopkins Ordinary but it was the first time since Olivia and Katie took it over. My friend and I stayed in the delightful Forager's Cottage. It is 2 bedrooms - bright and cheery. Very comfortable beds. Great living room for us to hang out in (we had another friend staying in the inn) as well as a nice front porch. It was immaculate and the kitchen was stocked for our needs. Breakfast is not included with the Cottage which was fine for us since we were on the hiking trails early in the morning. Would highly recommend staying here in this quaint town. It's a perfect location if you want to explore/hike the park. We wish Olivia and Katie the best of luck with their new endeavor.
