Decided to spend a weekend with my wife and son here before a month long trip. Keeping in mind that it cost over US$ 300 per night which is more than an average HILTON, MARRIOTT, or HYATTT; there was quite a lot to be expected. Unfortunately, the issues began at check-in. It was not a smooth experience, and both check-in assistants seemed not to be adequately proficient in the English language. They did not explain some of the amenities the hotel offers, and more importantly the operational procedures of the hotel. (I later had to learn that the hotel does not accept deposit by credit card). We settled into our room which was clean, spacious, and well furnished. What they could improve were the pillows. Either the quality of the pillows was inferior, or they had already been used for quite a while. We then descended to the pool area for a swim. The pool itself is the highlight of this resort. The pool is designed as a watering hole in the amazon; so it is surrounded by rock and bush formations. It even has a multi-cascade waterfall which covers a grotto. Last but not least is the full service swim-up bar. As nice as it was, the area was over crowded and seating around the pool seemed to be taken-up by walk-in guests. The main issue though was that there seemed to be a clear lack of coordination and understanding between the waiters, bar-men, kitchen, and administration staff. The waiters were heavily understaffed which led to confusion, long waiting times, and small ques. For dinner, we decided on ordering room service as we were already tired and phased out from the day. They offered room service from both the café at the swimming pool, or from the main grill restaurant. The menu was varied, allowing it to cater to your specific taste, and the food quality and presentation was impressive. Overall, its not a bad property. It is just that the quality of the staff and coordination really need improvement.....if not, then it is not worth the prices the hotel asks.

Excellent
GGuest UserI had a perfectly pleasant stay at this Courtyard. Nice, simple and modern room. Overall better than an average Courtyard in the U.S. The location won't work for everyone though - the hotel is a bit out of town. We had a rental car (from Hertz), so the location wasn't an issue. There's also Avis car rental next to the hotel, but I couldn't price it up through the Avis website so not sure if it's open (if it is, I'd take a taxi form the airport to the hotel and rent a car from there). More generally, we really liked Suriname - super friendly people, we generally felt safe, the food was delicious, prices weren't crazy. All of this in stark contrast to Guyana. It seems that most countries don't need a visa to enter, but you still need to pay the entry fee online. I read multiple reports saying that you can no longer do it on arrival at PBM or ORG airport - this wasn't true as a couple of passengers from my flight were paying the entry fee on arrival at ORG (September 2023). You also need a yellow fever vax certification - this was checked by the airline at check-in. Another hopefully helpful tip - Transguyana Airlines runs 3 flights a day between the small regional airport in Paramaribo (Zorg en Hoop - airport code ORG) and its equivalent in Georgetown (Ogle - airport code OGL). These are super convenient as the main international airport in both Georgetown and Paramaribo is an hour away from the city. Note that these flights were not coming up on Kayak or *******, but were easy to book through the airline's website. FWIW, there was also a flight from PBM to OGL which may be helpful for those arriving at the main airport in Paramaribo and connecting to Georgetown. The flight itself is on a small 12-seater (Cessna Caravan) which is fun on its own. I wish I had more time in Suriname - what a fascinating country!

GGuest UserThis was our first time in Suriname and we were blown away by our stay at Holland Lodge. 1) The staff was exceptional! Before our arrival, they helped us with an airport transfer (the airport is FAR from the city, spring for the transport!). During our stay they helped us do laundry for a reasonable price, helped us order food when we arrived late, and also helped us book a dolphin cruise last minute. Even more so they went above and beyond. I got a pretty nasty infection the day before we left for the interior and Sherona helped me find a doctor, called her on my behalf, and helped me set up the my appointment- truly incredible service! Then we ordered food a second time and were told by Pizza Hut they would take my visa credit card upon delivery. This was untrue but Lucy at the front desk immediately stepped in, paid him in cash on our behalf and put it on our room bill- absolutely amazing service! 2) This place was CLEAN- like clean clean. The sheets were spotless, the room was white glove clean which we really appreciated. 3) Breakfast- Breakfast was 12USD to add on which seemed steep but it was so nice not to worry about it in the morning and the food was fantastic. We truly appreciated our stay and the staff is truly who blew this place out of the water! Incredible. We hope to visit again!

OO.N.AThe Torarica Resort is a very good hotel. The property is very expansive close to a beautiful river, and it also adjourn the Royal Torarica hotel. The staff are very friendly, they know their stuff, very professional and always wear smiles on their faces. The food in thd hotel is very hood and the portions are on the very large sizes. The only downside is the booming music coming from one or two specific bars and lounges directly opposite the hotel. The noise kept us awake most of the nights, with thunderous shakes of the windows. The hotel management must engage the government to either move the clubs or limit their unnecessarily loud music to the daytime.

GGuest UserStayed a total of 4 non-consecutive nights (2+1+1) in three different rooms while on a tour (booked by travel agency). This is primarily a business hotel and is well located within walking distance of several restaurants. The major problem is the HVAC system. When I first arrived, the room was fit for a polar bear. The A/C cannot be turned off, and the thermostat can only be set between 22° and 24° (22-23° in the first room I stayed in). However, the temperature in the room is barely around 20°, and all rooms were uncomfortably cold. The air smells bad and there is major condensation on certain areas of the floor, which are always wet and slippery. The A/C in the first room was also extremely noisy, like sitting next to a running train. The rooms were otherwise reasonably comfortable. Amenities included electric kettle and coffee/tea packets. Well lit desk area. Comfortable bed and pillows (but only a flimsy blanket, absolutely insufficient for the temperature). Bathrooms with everything in working order. Good water pressure in the shower. No toiletries other than a soap bar and no hair dryer. Wifi worked well. The hotel takes a credit card pre-authorization of $50/day for incidentals, and I was informed that, if not used, it takes **one month** to release it! This is unheard of. Breakfast is à la carte without vegetarian options (although they will bring you something if you ask). Overall nothing special, and very limited seating near the serving area. The staff is highly variable: some employees are nice and helpful, while others are extremely rude.
