Bedroom spacious, but thereafter not good. King-size mattress on a double bed base meaning it was easy to roll out of bed if you ended up on the unsupported edge The duvet was sticking well out of the cover, and it was filthy and worn, disgusting. Bathroom had peeling paint, and no shaving mirror. Shower worked well, but surrounds and seals pretty mouldy. Bedside lights could only be switched on / off from one side, inconvenient The TV remote control was disgusting, filthy and worn out with no numbers visible. Absolutely thick with dust and worse. Bathroom basin not cleaned (2 night stay). Tea tray left dirty and not even wiped after first night, although was replenished. Food -greatly overpriced for below average mass produced basic food. Serving staff were reasonable first night, rubbish 2nd night. Some food cold by the time it was served. Breakfast, poorly laid out. Scoops impossible to use in the curved cereal serving bowls, picking up about 3 cornflakes at a time. Eggs tough as boots. Cracked / chipped glasses and mugs being put out for use. Hope never to return. Could be really nice with some investment, but currently the worst IHG hotel I have stayed in anywhere.

GGuest UserWe got married at Crossbasket in 2021 having a small wedding. We had previously visited the castle (prior to booking our wedding) and the service is the best we have received in Scotland. From booking our venue to the morning after our wedding the staff at Crossbasket were fantastic and couldn't do enough. The manager Rob, met us to show us around the castle when it wasn't officially open, he took the time to answer any questions we had and was fantastic. Vicki the wedding coordinator accommodated all of our requests and every member of staff went above and beyond on the day. We handed in a small bag of items which my husband planned to set up on the day, when he arrived every detail had been done for him. This allowed for a stress free enjoyable morning. We were married in the main castle and had our reception in the Stewart room. This suited our needs and despite covid restrictions at the time our day felt perfectly 'normal' (in line with the restrictions allowed). Our guests stayed in a few rooms which are huge and so comfy. We stayed in the Macintosh room which was stunning. My husband and I are looking forward to returning and staying again. The food was excellent with lots of choice and flavour. The roux menu is some of the nicest food we have ever had. We have since visited two ICMI properties and have to say they really set the standard for service and food across Scotland. We most recently stayed at Cromlix which similarly to Crossbasket had food to die for and service above the standard. This is something we highly recommend and we look forward to trying out other ICMI properties. Thank you to all the staff, if you are looking for a wedding venue (whether it be for 5 to 200 people!) we highly recommend this venue. Also to comment all of our suppliers had lovely things to say about the venue. Our makeup artist said it is her favourite venue to work with as they are so accommodating!
TtwopunchgangThe room was super spacious and clean, toilet amenities is a bit bare, so bring your own toothbrush/comb etc. The way to the hotel reception was a bit confusing but basically you have to drive all the way up to Level 3 and the entrance to the door is not sheltered so be careful of rain! After going through the door, turn right, walk straight through multiple doors, and take the lift up to Level 12 where the reception is. Actually this “hotel” is pretty big each level has lots of rooms. It’s also connected to a mall but all the more popular shops (like M&S and the grocery store) are closed so nothing much to do there. But you can drive a short while to bigger grocery chains. Overall a good comfortable stay and it makes a perfect pit stop
