I remember looking at the photos of this place in the Rosewood coffee table book in my suite at Little Dix Bay, thinking "It can't be this beautiful!". During that trip, I ended booking Castiglion for the following summer. And I'm so glad I did. The pictures don't do it justice. This is the best way to experience Tuscany. The grounds are absolutely spectacular, and I can't even try to describe everything because everywhere we walked, everywhere we looked, whether in the morning light or at the golden hour, the trees, the valleys in the distance, the flower and vegetable gardens, the main street, the small shop, the cobblestones, everything was pure visual perfection. Sadly, our suite was not in the main area but further up main street, in a brand new developped area, which even though it was designed to look like it's been there forever, like the rest of the borgo, it definitely didn't have the same charm and character. This is subjective of course. Some people might prefer to be away from the center of the property. We didn't. If you have a kid, splurge with their special Kid's spa massage. It's the whole experience adults go through, catered to a little one, and ours (7yo at the time) keeps talking about it. It's very unique for a kid to experience such a treat (at least in my world). And the spa itself was beautiful. We will go back.
