Beautiful venue but uncomfortable rules. We attended a beautiful family wedding in June. The venue itself is beautiful, the rooms are stunning. However the first rule, we were very disappointed to find out that we had to travel for over an hour in our wedding attire on a blazing hot day, with no option to check in to our (£250) room until after the ceremony. When we did arrive sweaty & uncomfortable, the staff that spoke to us were very pleasant and opened the bar. There were a couple of ladies that just sat at reception & literally just starred at us. The ceremony itself was beautiful & being able to sit in the beautiful gardens afterwards was stunning especially on such a hot day. After the speeches, we all sat down for lunch which I can honestly say, the food was gorgeous. All staff handing out & collecting plates were dressed lovely apart from one lady, Laura. A few of us just looked at each other in disbelief that she attended this beautiful day looking like she'd just got out of bed! A blouse far too big hanging off her which looked to be un-ironed & not a smile on her face. We later found out this was the 'Manager'. She definitely outshone from the other staff members but not in a good way! Please Maia talk to her about the attention to detail in which a premises like yours & guest expect. Now for the most bizarre rule of all - closing & locking of all doors on to the garden at 6pm. WOW!! What felt like the hottest day of the year and not a window or door open in the venue room. All guests had to walk all through the reception at the front of the venue, down steps, across pebble stones (ladies in heels) just to get some fresh air in the garden. Evening photographs were also then taken so we had to walk all the way around again & again rather than leaving one door unlocked for people to walk through. I understand there are houses around the gardens but surely you do not have to lock us in like animals. We are grown adults & can shut a door behind us. The venue room became very hot & uncomfortable. Once dark, we then went back outside to light the sparklers in the garden. After a 'couple' of glasses of wine, toddling down the steps & over the large pebbles in the dark, it was starting to get a bit tedious when we could of just walked through a door. We tried to not let this ruin the day but it definitely put a dampener on the evening. The evening part had finished & those that staying for the evening were allowed to buy 1 drink before going to bed which was a nice touch. All in all a nice place to for a quiet hotel stay but this is not a wedding venue as the owners seem to scared to upset the neighbours instead of making the venue comfortable for their guests.

We recently celebrated our wedding at The Old Vicarage Boutique on 26th June 2025, and we couldn’t be happier with how the day turned out overall. The venue itself is absolutely beautiful, full of character and charm and the majority of the team did a fantastic job ensuring everything ran smoothly. The food and service during the wedding breakfast were outstanding. Many of our guests complimented both the high quality of the meals and the attentiveness of the staff, which helped make the occasion truly special. However, we were disappointed to receive negative feedback regarding the evening food service. Guests reported that portion sizes were very limited, which was particularly frustrating given that we had paid for additional meals due to last minute guest cancellations, and it's unfortunate that this aspect did not meet expectations. A special shoutout goes to Chelsea Croft and Maya, who were outstanding throughout. Their warmth, professionalism, and calm approach really helped make the day extra special. We also want to thank all the behind the scenes staff, nothing was ever too much to ask and they went above and beyond to make sure we felt taken care of. However, there were a few things in the lead-up to the wedding that caused some frustration and left us dreading the day itself, especially after our final wedding meeting. For example, we were initially told that we would be able to set up our décor the day before the wedding, but later, during the final meeting, we were informed this wouldn’t be possible. Similarly, we had been told we could use small confetti cannons after the ceremony, only to receive an email later stating that this wasn’t allowed. Another issue was with my chosen entrance song. I had selected a track that wasn’t available on Spotify, and instead of working with me to find a solution, I was simply encouraged to change it. As a result, I had to arrange for the music to be played by myself before walking out, which was an added stress I hadn’t anticipated. Please also be aware that the venue locks the patio doors in the evening, which limits easy access for guests to the garden. Several of our guests had commented on this as it made it difficult for them to move freely between the indoor and outdoor spaces, which was a bit of a downside, especially for those wanting to enjoy the beautiful surroundings. That said, we did feel let down by the attitude of Laura Baker, whose approach on the day was unfortunately less than supportive. This was not only felt by us as a couple but also noticed by several of our guests. It’s a shame, as this was in contrast to the otherwise excellent service we received. Despite this, our overall experience was positive. The Old Vicarage Boutique is a beautiful, well-run wedding venue with a great team behind it. Thank you again for helping make our day so memorable.

A gorgeous place for a wedding. The staff were amazing, attentive and efficient. The food was second to none - the best food I have ever had at a wedding with special mention for the warm almond tart with a cherry compote - divine. The canapes were delicious too , especially the mini fish and chips and the beef and Yorkshire pudding. And the room was sumptuous with the softest carpet and the the fluffiest towels ever. A fabulous time was had by all and the bride and groom didn't stop smiling. The perfect day

This was the venue for our family wedding celebration. Such a beautiful location inside and out. Staff were excellent from start to finish, looking after our every need. Food was served perfectly, correct order, and in tip top condition , both presentation and taste. From main meal to evening chicken and chips it was excellent. Small touches were in abundance and helped to add to an overall memorable experience. The gardens are beautiful and allow folks to spread out and enjoy the setting.

My daughter’s wedding was on 06/06/2024 at The Vicarage Boutique Hotel. The weather was great, sun shining and blue sky. Guests were travelling from Wales, Leicestershire and as far as Dubai. The venue was immaculate, decorated to a very high standard and the scent you smell when you first walk in is beautiful from the insense sticks which are available to buy. Each and every room is stunning as are the gardens. The bedrooms are spacious, beautifully decorated with en-suites and the beds are very comfortable. The food was the best we’ve ever tasted, hats off to the chefs. A special thanks to Mark Elliott for singing at our daughter’s wedding, he did a tremendous job with his amazing voice ensuring everyone danced the night away. Thanks also to Jenny from Flower Barn Jenny for the beautiful flower arrangements, thanks to the wonderful Katie of DaisyBell photography who was incredible. Finally a massive thank you to all the staff at the vicarage and especially to Jess and Chelsea who ensured everything ran smoothly and effortlessly and who were so kind and welcoming. It was the most magical day and I wish it didn’t have to end.

I’ve thought and thought about what I could write in this review and I just feel really disappointed and a little ripped off after my experience as a guest at this wedding. Firstly I’d like to point out my expectations were high, I’ve followed the old vicarage on social media for a number of years and it’s absolutely beautiful and has always come across so well online. The venue itself has been done to a very high standard. I can appreciate the hard work that goes in to keeping the venue look as pristine as it is so credit where credit is due. However, I feel like my overall experience was just tainted by rude staff (there was one female member of staff who was particularly ‘militant’ and a lack of fluidity in the day which was constantly broken up by members of staff moving us around, telling us the rules. I’ll leave you with one example - we ordered a bottle of wine from the bar and the young bar staff (who were lovely as well as the young service staff) and he kindly let me keep the bottle in the fridge and top up my glass as and when I was ready for it. The particularly stern lady I previously mentioned, came straight over and said aloud for all to hear “is that a bottle purchase, we don’t sell that one by the glass” Of course it was a bottle purchase so there was no need for her to cause a scene and show her authority. Overall a very disappointing experience- Won’t be going back or recommending

From the moment we stepped into The Old Vicarage on a wedding open day we knew instantly this had to be our venue - the decor, the attention to detail and the friendless of the staff just made us fall in love with it! The planning was so easily and seamless Laura was always on hand to help and answer any queries. We used a mixture of our own suppliers and those recommended by the team and they complemented each other wonderfully. Our wedding day was better than we could have ever imagined Laura and the team on the day ensured everything ran smoothly, with such elegance! The canapés and wedding breakfast were amazing (our guests described the food as the best wedding food they had ever tasted) I’m so glad we added canapés - they just added that extra bit of special! The rooms are beautiful and to see our guests faces light up when they checked in was brilliant! We’ve lost track of how many times we’ve been told it’s was the best wedding our guests had ever been to (& they meant it!) The team never missed a beat, the venue is absolutely stunning and we will never be able to thank Laura and the team at The Old Vicarage enough for making our wedding day the best day of our lives! We wish we could do it all over again! Jake & Rachel

Just so there are no crossed wires about the whereabouts of this venue this review is based on my dealings and service regarding our wedding booking at the Old Vicarage in Southwell, Nottingham. Laura, who is the only lady I have met at this venue due to her showing my fiancée and I around for our viewing for a potential wedding there , she was lovely, open, friendly and honest, we spent just over an hour with her one Sunday afternoon (end of Jan 2023) whilst she beamed about the venue, showed us around all of the wonderful bedrooms and she was proud to let us know she got married there. All was well and within a few days we were keen to get a booking in (paid early Feb for a wedding on a Saturday in June 2024. The old vicarage was the only venue we had viewed, we looked at various venues online so we felt the Old Vicarage was right for us due to the decor, the location and the layout of the venue plus having Laura alongside to work with. We handed over 1K to lock in a wedding date via bank transfer (should have noticed a red flag here as only bank transfer and cash were accepted) After reading all of the pages of the contract thoroughly (and there were a few) we felt really concerned. We didn’t expect such harsh and unrealistic terms and conditions. I would advise if you are planning to get married here these are the terms you and your partner need to agree with- 1. The total cost given is with and without VAT in the contract so with some and without in other parts of it so you need to work it out and read very carefully 2. Be prepared to NOT be able to taste the food they will be presenting to your guests for the wedding breakfast as they just don’t offer that piece of mind 3. No draught beer!!! Terrible for the chaps. Min card payment of £10 and no cash accepted at the bar (doesn’t matter if you were planning on paying for all but in case you decide to have a fixed figure behind the ‘bar’ this could be an issue for the odd guest 4. There are 8 bedrooms at the old vicarage, each being £195 per room (without VAT and including breakfast) so that’s £1870 total. If you would like to stay the night before your wedding (which I wanted to, you are penalised for it) so you can but for over double as much as the night of your wedding (£4200 that’s including the VAT of which I did the Math for) with zero negotiation even them not having a wedding at the venue the day before. 5. You can only arrive at the venue 1 hour before the wedding ceremony (no earlier!!) and you are limited to who comes in the bridal suite with you. So if you would like photos arriving and time to get into your wedding dress and have a glass so you are feeling nice and relaxed forget it! 6. No fridges available for your cake or flowers 7. Any staff member are within their rights to enter any of our guests bedrooms at any time and take any alcohol that has been purchased outside of the venue and will charge £50 for EACH item found. Wow! (Not that any of our guests would consi
