Only came for a Sunday roast. Arrived early so made use of a drink in the garden, glass of wine £12.15! Whooh and over £7 a pint. Came inside for lunch and was pretty busy but seated on time. Staff very pleasant albeit seemed a little run off their feet. When my roast beef came it had a hair in it so sent it back, apologies from staff. I told my husband to continue his meal. My dinner came back piping hot and clearly nuked in a microwave as the beef looked tough as old boots. Again sent it back. Staff offered me another but by now husband had nearly finished his so I declined. It’s a shame as have been a few times in the past and it was good. At a cost of £24 for dinner I expected a high standard sadly this time it was not. Paid bill minus the dinner and that took awhile due to staff clearly too busy serving arriving guests.

The cleanest room I’ve ever had (inc.when I’ve stayed in 5* hotels abroad & U.K.). Plus no mould spots on bathroom tiling. All newly done & high end . Communal areas perfectly clean too. So congrats to cleaners & maintenance team! Receptionist was exceptionally friendly. Nice features of original Victorian carpets and dining plates in the entrance.

A one night stay in a standard double, which was nicely decorated, albeit "old world charm." Quick check in and parking on site is a definite plus. Breakfast was a little disappointing, hence the 4 as opposed to 5 star rating. The last time I stayed (a few months ago), the food was freshly cooked. However, this time, it's the standard hot plates that dried out the food. Coffee and tea from large jugs were stewed. Cheap bread for toast. Very pleasant check out.

Quite a grand building, car parking onsite was useful, single room was a reasonable size and well equipped, no aircon but a fan in the room helped as it was a really hot day. We did not eat there, but did use the bar which I found expensive, nearly £12 for a pint of lager and a small coke.... There was a school prom being held that night, which we were not made aware of, the noise on their arrival was very loud, car horns beeping, tyres screeching lots of shouting, however once inside the building it was fine and the group were separate from the main hotel which helped, seemed to be well staffed. Slept well, having a shower the following morning and the shower curtain and pole fell off the wall onto me which was awkward, it looked like this had happened before as the pole did not have any rubber fitting on one end (it was a spring loaded type), cheap considering the rest of the hotel, a screen would have been better, would have been a 4 if not for this.

The hotel is in a very good location, useful for the hovercraft a bus outside the hotel ideal for a visit into Portsmouth. Local restaurant and shops very close by. Big car park and its free for customers

I stayed at the queens hotel with work that was supposed to be for one night unfortunately, while I was there I got taken ill and admitted to hospital to then be released later the same day. The staff at the queens hotel went absolutely above and beyond to make sure I was ok while the paramedics arrived. They saved my room for another night for me (which wasn’t prior booked) incase I was released and needed somewhere to stay that night. Before I left for hospital and on my return I was waited on hand and foot nothing was too much trouble for them. Absolutely 5***** service. Absolutely spotless rooms and amazing staff and food I wouldn’t stay anywhere else upon my return to Portsmouth. Highly recommended. Thank you once again

Ten of my close family came for Father’s Day lunch today. We felt like we were treated like royalty by our lovely waiter Jose. He was attentive, helpful and friendly. Everybody thought the food was delicious. The roasts were just the right size and we were offered extra gravy (without having to ask!). Nothing was too much trouble and the music next door in the main restaurant (a saxophonist) was the perfect backdrop for our meal. Most importantly, my 83 year old father felt really looked after as he told us all his fascinating stories about when he used to wait outside the Queens Hotel in the early 60s to get autographs of the visiting football players or touring celebrities of the time. Thank you so much Jose and the Queens Hotel for helping us have such a special day.

Visited again on business and stopped two nights. Great room and view (room 241) along with a proper bath Breakfast was good but a full English could do with being hotter when served rather than just warm-ish. Great to see staff members Rose etc who are absolutely awesome!!!! Thanks to everyone and see you in July
