Beautiful island, has everything. Bush, surf beach & calm waters. Peaceful & versatile. Close to Gold Coast & all the convenience it offers. Great holiday destination. Thoroughly enjoyed our time on the island

We booked for 3 nights marina lodge. On arrival were told we’d been moved to lodge 7 instead of lodge 4, no problem. (Problem no.1) We arrived at or lodge armed with our entry keycards however, they didn’t work. Called reception, no answer! Husband walks back to office and was told the keys were definitely activated. Staff stated I’ll have to get electrician out. So we sat on the steps for 1/2 hr waiting electrician rectifies problem YAY! (Problem no. 2) No frying pan (one did get delivered after walking back to sparsely manned, office as once again no one answered calls, BUT funnily enough call was answered when another staff member called 🤔) (Problem no .3) toilet door handle falls off so privacy open for the world to see 🫣once again could not contact anyone. Finally, on the Monday (last night) we found a passive aggressive lady in the office who basically brushed us off but said ‘I’ll pass it on to maintenance’ surprise, surprise didn’t get fixed (Problem no. 4) toilet kept running but we could stop it if we tapped on flusher several times (water SHORTAGE what shortage) (Problem no. 5) not really a problem but….drawer front in kitchen was almost falling off (Problem no. 6) tv remotes didn’t work (Problem no. 7) one of the aircons in bedroom kept producing heat after a time (Problem no. 8) 4 coffee sachets for 4 adults for 3 days and 1 little milk carton. Tried to get some from Ms. passive aggressive only to be told ‘no don’t have any, buy it from the bar’ We spoke with a guy on our ferry back to mainland who actually replenished rooms and he stated he gets a call from admin. (Ms. Passive aggressive) to replenish rooms. Clearly too hard for Ms passive aggressive. From this same man on our ferry the reason we were moved to another lodge was because some guests were dancing on lodge 4 deck which caused guests to damage or fall through. After we were moved we noticed even our deck was rotting in places so we were really careful where we walked. Rather than name and shame people an email is going to be sent. On Couran Cove website it is basically false advertising, so visitors beware. The pool was great, but children’s pool under Reno. Every other facility is derelict. Rain forest walk lovely but sadly undergrowth and dropped branches and palm fronds taken over. The island is a fire hazard just waiting to happen, basically a tinder box. Walk to the surf nice, surf club and boardwalk derelict and the boardwalk just absolutely destroyed. The shop does not supply basic essentials such as milk or bread. The wine and beer unstocked. Tried to order a white wine at 2 of the bars but nope sorry we had a wedding so we have run out. The restaurant omg nope and that’s all I’ll say. The young girl running the bar/coffee was lovely but couldn’t help us with anything. Look I could keep going on but you get the gist. On a positive note the room incl. bathroom were spotless. The beds were comfy. Just make sure you take your own supplies. The wild life is bea

Myself and two older kids went away for the weekend and had a really fun time. The ferry trip over was only 30 mins and added to the adventure experience for the kids. When we got there the ferry took us straight to the main building where the reception was. We grabbed our room key and went to our room. The room was absolutely fine. It was clean and there was plenty of room for all 3 of us with an amazing view of the harbour. Within 30 minutes of us being there we saw all kinds of fish, wallabies, birds and even a goanna! The pool was stunning and overlooked more bush. We hired bikes, and use them for a full day riding around the resort and over to the beach of stradbroke. The abandoned side of the resort while a little sad was even fun to ride around and explore. We brought a lot of our own food which I think is a bit of a must but we also bought some food at the restaurant. The guest count must have been a bit low so it made sense to me that not everything was open and it didn't effect our fun at all. The experience for us was kind of like glamping, it has a real camp kind of feel but it was all very comfortable at the end of the day in our rooms. This isn't a luxury resort but a family resort with enough to keep everyone entertained for several days. The kids can't wait to go back.

We went over for a family wedding, the staff were amazing, the villa was immaculate and we had the best time ❤️❤️ a great day around the pool and the food was delicious, you could see them trying to get the renovations done around the resort, but it didn’t bother us 🏖️

Please read reviews before you book your stay at Couran cove. They regularly close the adult pool ( kids pool is permanently closed). The poolside bar, surf bar, surf cafe, playground, VR room, gym…have been closed for months ( years?). The photos they use are from years ago when the resort was looked after. Most amenities are closed or in need of serious repair. Hundreds of rental bikes in need of TLC are stacked outside all locked up. The cafe/dairy does not sell milk…? This is our second visit ( we came 4 months ago ). The decline is evident, the staff just seem to zip around in golf carts but we don’t see any maintenance/repairs being done. We had thoughts of investing here but due to the politics of the island we are pleased we didn’t. For those that are paying the steep fees ($17k+ per year). The management still closes the pool, shuts power and turns water off when they choose too. With the right management this place could be beautiful again….

The resort is horrendous. I am not sure how it is still legal for this resort to be open and to charge people to stay here. $200 a night we paid. We were going to stay for 5 days but as soon as we arrived and looked around couldn’t imagine staying longer than one night. It’s an abandoned ghost town, all the facilities are closed, chairs broken lying around in pieces, beach bar and beach full of broken beer bottles and most of the buildings falling apart. There is nothing to do apart from hire a bike. Everything is destroyed. Extremely depressing energy and locals complaining about the resort making it a horrible environment to be in. Please don’t waste your time and money. We are deeply disappointed. Feel so bad saying this but just being honest..you should be ashamed to even advertise this as a beautiful getaway and charge innocent victims.

The location is beautiful and the buildings and units were well designed. The young staff members were cheerful and polite and trying hard to serve visitors in the face of no support to speak of from their management. The management is appalling, across all facets of the 'resort'. 1. The website is dishonest. For example, it offers sports facilities but these have not been maintained in years. For example, the 'Surf Deck' outlet is not 'closed for renovation'; it has been abandoned for years. For example, only the main bar (the Marlin Bar) is consistently available and the other cafes and bars are not available. For example, the available food is at best at the level of a local pizza shop. 2. The infrastructure has not been maintained. For example, the main Boardwalk and the rainforest boardwork both have rotting timbers that need to be replaced for safety (not covered up with feeble attempts to disguise the damage with fillers and fake wood covers). For example, all the buildings, bridges, paths and boardwalks need to be pressure-cleaned and the timber re-oiled. For example, the 'banqueting marquee' needs to be renovated for use, or removed. For example, the sports facilities need urgent renovation and renewal. For example, old bikes with no tread on their tyres everywhere, including the two outside our unit that I think might have been the two that were included in our rental. 3. Heavy machinery and rubbish piles have been dumped and abandoned behind the 'Surf Deck' building. 4. There is no attempt to provide basic information to guests. The opening/closing times of the food outlets are advertised incorrectly or not at all, and as the resort is on an island there is no opportunity for guests to just go down the road to an alternative source when they miss out because of lack of information. 5. There is no serious attempt to cater for a standard range of dietary needs. I am vegetarian and the only options available to me were a very ordinary vegan burger and a couple of salads. I drew this to the attention of the staff and on the second night they made me a vegetarian pasta dish, but there were no real options for anyone staying for more than one or two nights. How people with cultural differences or other dietary needs such as gluten-free would cope I have no idea, because the menu is based on pasta, pizza, and burgers. 6. The documentation provided on the island tries to avoid responsibility for any of the dietary issues by stating that the premises are 'self-catering', but this is not advised at the time of booking. Thus guests have no warning that they need to provide their own food, and the range available at the 'shop' (a few fridges in the Marlin Bar) is both intermittent and woefully inadequate. 7. As well, while the island is designated as a conservation zone and 'domestic animals are not permitted in a conservation park there were dogs everywhere, including one barking incessantly in the unit above the one I stayed in. Sadly dying a slow death. Still charging full price for rooms but be warned. The pool and rec room are closed, staff very limited. I have never seen coffee made on long life milk but they do there. Lots of issues with room. Full of ants, some have no power , beach bar was falling down. No cleaning , save your money and go elsewhere.

Should have checked the recent reviews. This section of the island is in strife with Electricity and Gas being switched off and the locals of the Cove living off generators or just leaving the island. It’s a sad situation for them. Most of the features listed in the booking ad were not in use. - No Cafe - No Watersports - No Fitness Centre - No Park - No Bowls - Only 1 place to eat with very limited choice - worse of all, the pool was not in use. We were told that the pool was out of order only 24 hours prior meaning there was no time to notify us. We were able to later find out from a local that the pool was out of use for a week and they believe it will not come back into use and that this was the beginning of the end. Many of the units there are up for sale and there are regular break ins caused by Drug issues. We tried to leave on the same day only to find out the 4.30pm Ferry was not on that day (Saturday) then left the next day. We just got our refund. The only restaurant shut at 7.30pm and we were in the room by 7.15pm counting down the hours to leave. Even though there seemed to be wifi, it wouldn’t connect. I asked one of the kitchen stuff about this and he said, “I thought there was never any wifi” The next morning the next morning the Ferry was an hour late. We noticed distress from another person who was going to miss a flight. This once beautiful resort is now a run down waste ground of what is used to be. It can’t have long left at this rate.
