Trip started out with my parents and I going up to our room to find it open, so we didn’t feel comfortable entering because we didn’t know if anyone would be in there. So we go to the front desk and spoke to Joshua. He was very nice and understanding. He explained to us the reason why the door was open was because a pet had last stayed there so they did a deep clean and were airing out the room. Despite that, he went ahead and gave us another room. It was the same room, but better view since it was the fourth floor so it was definitely an upgrade. We had family staying in the Marriott a few hundred feet down the street, so we went there to hang out and both of our rooms were the best rooms you could get. I can comfortably say the room at the Marriott was bigger, nicer, and better decorated, but the Hilton was less crowded out by the pool so it was quieter. I also believe the bed at the Hilton to be more comfortable than that at the Marriott. And it was just a smaller hotel so easier to navigate. Hilton allows pets and the Marriott doesn’t, that’s why we stayed at the Hilton. Never tried the food at the Hilton, but we had the food at Bar Louie’s at the Marriott multiple nights and it was fantastic. After seeing the food at the Hilton, I’d much rather go to Bar Louie’s and suggest the same for anyone staying at the Hilton. The pool at the Marriott is also much nicer, it’s just really well done and impressive. But it’s also much more crowded and full of kids than at the Hilton. Overall I liked the Marriott more than the Hilton, but they don’t allow pets unless they’re full service animals. And despite my preference, the Hilton was still a fantastic hotel and made for an extremely comfortable half week stay. I’d certainly recommend staying here. Only reason I’m giving it 4 stars is because of the direct comparison I had. If it didn’t exist, I’d give it 5. Amazing hotel and amazing staff, especially Joshua. We liked it so much we decided to extend our stay an extra night. Hope this helps someone!

Overall great place for families. The bad. As mentioned by others, this hotel will not honor your Hilton Status. You will only get water the day you arrive. They will not bother with giving you extra water regardless of status for any additional days, you will be charged for extra- where any other Hilton you get two per day. The pool is wonderful but man it’s scrape galore out there. I get it ! we don’t need folks slipping out there, but Please invest in buying extra coating for the pool because literally everyone I met at the pool had scrapes galore. The folks outside controlling the chairs wanted to overcharge me $80 when it’s $40 two chairs and an umbrella. Not cool. There should be pricing advertised. The cleaning ladies and folks at the restaurant were super nice. The ladies in the front - meh but then again , it could be they were having a bad day - so I don’t want to be super judgy! They could use vacay themselves. Matter of fact they should have an employee vacation on the island to learn about the activities available for tourists because everyone I asked was oblivious and lost and had no idea nor suggestions. I know it’s not Miami but come on put someone who has experience at the front desk and not a novice. Everyone acted and seemed liked novices. We had a mishap where luckily Hilton came in clutch but I had to call it in and I don’t think the personally at the hotel knew who to handle th issues. In conclusion, just heed the advice. It’s a Hilton act like a Hilton.

First time visiting this Hilton location. It was a great experience! We are willing to come back and stay here again! Food was great, service was good, pool is amazing -could've been better if towels were available to the guess at pool area. :)

Had to call late in day to get our room cleaned. Pool bar opened late. Room hot and beds small. Desk workers acted like when asking questions we were interrupting their phone time. Also pool towels ****** regular thin bath towels. Won’t be back.

We just got home from a trip there. On our first day we had an incident that required a visit to the emergency room with our son. The bottom of the pool is so damaged and old that it is sharp as glass. My son was swimming for 3 minutes and his back was gashed open by the bottom of the pool. No one in the hotel knew where the closest emergency center was or were willing to help us. Then when we complained about the sharp pool they said a manager would be getting in touch and that was 4 days ago. No one seemed to care that our trip started with an ER trip and stitches.

This is not what I expected from a Hilton property. This place is DATED!! The staff working the front desk, they were GREAT!! The hotel only had one elevator working (glad I was on the first floor). The lobby was better looking than the rooms. The pictures must have been from many years ago. We had a suite room so I was expecting a little better room and furniture. Everything needs to be painted correctly. Everything was sloppy. Mold above the door in the bathroom and in the picture in the bathroom. Bathroom wasn’t really clean when we got there, hair was all over the floor from the previous guest. The toilet stopped working, my husband had to fix it. The safe did not work at all. That safe had to be 30+ years old. Furniture (sofa and chair) in the living area was dirty and not comfortable. Refrigerator wouldn’t really cool down. The balcony seating was so uncomfortable and was old with mold on it. The door leading out to the balcony would not lock after we opened it. Again, for a Hilton property I give it a poor rating. The only reason I didn’t go off was because the front desk staff was so nice. This place needs to section off floors and do a complete remodel and upgrade to the rooms and the outdoor furniture.

TL;DR: The Hilton Garden Inn in South Padre Island exceeded expectations with excellent, friendly staff and well-maintained facilities. The only minor issue was with the beach chair attendant. Highlights include clean rooms, great pool area, reasonably priced food, and a prime beachfront location. Common concerns about towels, noise, and beach access were unfounded, though Hilton status benefits were minimal. Resort experience without any resort fees! Overall, a 5/5 experience. Full review: We visit South Padre Island every year and usually rent a condo in the same building through a peer-to-peer rental marketplace. This year, our originally scheduled trip got postponed due to weather, so we decided to try the Hilton Garden Inn, South Padre Island, TX. After five days and four nights, we have ditched our rental plans for next summer and will be coming back to the Hilton. I'll go into all the details, but the star of the show was the staff and how well they were staffed. Everyone from the front desk to housekeeping, maintenance, restaurant, and bar staff was excellent. There was never a poor attitude, sign of frustration, or indication of "I'm just here for the paycheck." Everyone was always willing to help. The only negative experience I had was with the beach chair attendant, but I think he is a vendor, not an employee. The property had plenty of staff to keep it looking and feeling like a vacation resort. For example, no matter how late or early it was, the front desk was always staffed with a professional. They had in-house maintenance that did more than just basic stuff. One night, two of the three elevators were out of order. I was concerned that we might be inconvenienced the entire following day. Nope. They were fixed and ready by the time I woke up and used them at 7:30 AM. The property itself was fantastic. The immaculate marble lobby had plenty of well-kept, practical furniture to hang out with your laptop and coffee. The restaurant, although a chain (On The Border), felt unique. The bar was full in the evenings, and they had plenty of breakfast options (not typical for OTB). Speaking of the bars and restaurants, they were very reasonably priced! Breakfast (eggs, bacon, toast, potatoes) was $12.99. At the beach bar (Barry's), grilled cheese and fries for my kids was $5, and it wasn't small! A hamburger and fries for me was $8. We stayed in a two-queen junior suite with a partial ocean view balcony on the fourth floor (415) overlooking the pool. The rooms were tastefully remodeled in neutral tones with faux hardwood floor tiles. The bathroom was perfect, with ample storage on the vanity and much-needed shelves in the shower. The rooms were impeccably cleaned. I saw housekeeping cleaning a room after the prior guests had checked out, and they had pulled furniture away from the walls and were vacuuming behind it to ensure the room was free of any sand or dust. If you are on a low floor, your view of the beach will be obstructed by Bar

They stole my apple watch and other materials inside the room, but even so the manager didn't help me, the manager didn't contact the room cleaning staff and just filed a report! / me robaron mi Apple Watch y otros materiales dentro de la habitacion, pero aún así la gerente no me ayudó, la gerente no se comunicó con la personal de limpieza de la habitacion y solo levantó un reporte !
