Traditional hotel, in centre of town, which has been refurbished. Lovely, crisp cotton bedding, comfy bed, rooms clean, smart and classy, traditional with a modern twist decor. Very busy, but staff very helpful and accommodating. I think a few people hadn't read info on hotel in that it doesn't serve food at night (you can order takeaway) and surprized bar closed at 10.30 on a Saturday night.

What a fantastic hotel. Very friendly and accommodating staff. Nice bar onsite. Beautiful room with very comfortable bed. Lovely clean well appointed bathroom. Fantastic cooked breakfast to order. And very parking behind the hotel. Could not ask for more.

From the moment I walked into the lobby, the attention to making my stay the best ever was very evident. Whilst the George did not do evening food, I was told of places to eat or if I wanted a takeaway I could use the dining room. Upon getting a takeaway, I was provided with plates, cutlery and sauces. Nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was magnificent with a wide choice such as Full English, Eggs Benedict, Scrambled Egg and Smoked Salmon, Eggs Royal plus others. My poached eggs were perfectly cooked and again the service was so good. The bedroom was clean, bright and well decorated. It might have been recently refurbished as it was that clean. The bed linin was crisp and fresh. Every time I walked past a member of the George team, I was greeted warmly, asked if I wanted anything and simply made to feel like a valued customer. Will I stay there again, most definitely.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The George. Very friendly staff and the whole makeover is excellent. Lovely feel to the room. Breakfast made to order and was superb. They even made up a table for us in the dining room to bring a takeaway in for our evening meal. Would definitely recommend. Free parking out back too.

Called in here for lunch on way to Barnstaple. Excellent snack lunch. Good prices. Good service. Easy to find. Would recommend if you’re passing the town. All home cooked fresh food. Didn’t expect a tasty side salad with an order of a sandwich.

Stayed in room 10. Hotel exceeded expectations. Very spacious room, which seemed to be recently refurbished. Lovely decor. Well appointed. Bed was very comfortable and bathroom was almost new and clean. Breakfast was excellent and lots of options.
