We visited The Commodore for an evening meal because we'd been before and it had been superb. We were cycletouring and arrived into Grange starving after a long day on the bikes looking forwards to what should have been (based on our last visit) a good meal. It was SO disappointing. Two of us chose the "hot pot" off the specials board - a simple enough meal to make! However, what we received was certainly not hot pot. Lumps of tough, grey, diced meat swimming in brown water with a few tinned peas with it. No, potatos, no carrots nor anything else. It could be served with fries..but hotpot is sliced potatoes on top...why would I want fries with it? It was one of the most unappetising meals we've ever been unfortunate enough to have received. I spoke to the barman who sent the chef out to speak to us because I couldn't eat it...it looked and tasted awful. The chef agreed it wasn't the best and offered to replace our meals. My husband chose the pasta marscapone which came with a Lidl (?) garlic bread. It wasn't great, but edible. I just had some fries...which were very oily and overcooked. I left 3/4 of them. The other person in our party had fish and chips which was very greasy/oily and over cooked. She ate it because she was starving but she has suffered today. I don't know what has happened to this place. We won't be returning. Incidentally, the chef, when he came to collect our plates...he had been vaping at the bar. As he leant over to take the plates he was still exhaling his vape...grim! But at least he didn't charge us for the "hotpot". Dreadful experience.

Bedroom has beautiful views over Morecambe Bay. Breakfast is good but menu is odd. Young man and women waiters were very pleasant unlike the housekeeper who was neglectful in her duties. Bed was uncomfortable as the mattress sagged in the middle. En-suite: light cannot be switched off, botched repair of sink crack, shower not fit for purpose and no shelf to accommodate toiletries. No routine daily service of bedroom. Pub will not survive if these problems are not addressed.

This well situated hotel was great for our one night stop in the town. A big car park is right next to the hotel and is chargeable. The room had everything we needed with a comfortable bed and nice views. We had a drink in the bar and was served by a very friendly bartender and saw food that was going to other tables looking very tasty. It was a good find on our behalf.

Very friendly staff and a lovely room (Captains Quarters). We stayed for one night with breakfast and cannot fault the hotel or staff, the bar has two outside areas for sitting in the sun and the room was clean and obviously recently modernised with a brilliant view over the estuary to Morecambe, breakfast was brilliant and the service from the chef was excellent, can't fault this place and would highly recommend

Noisy as adjacent to busy railway line. Beds were extremely uncomfortable as were pillows. One bed was a camp bed and the mattress was totally inadequate for the bed. Food was decent enough. Staff were ok. rigid check in time of not before 4pm. Car parking was in a pay and display carpark which worked out expensive.

The team here make the venue, they really are a credit to the place. Amazing location, clean and tidy but some areas still needing a bit of tlc but I'm sure it's on the list. Food is good, maybe a little high on the price point but, running these places really isn't cheap so probably appropriate. Breakfast was great and even though the mattresses aren't top end hypnos, I had a great night's sleep. Well worth a visit, can't wait to return

Beautiful balcony to sit on whilst awaiting our lunch. Unfortunately, the experience went downhill quickly. Food had to be paid for before it is served. Prawn bisque was awful, bitter tasting and overly salty and the prawn floating in it was breadcrumb coated so was slimy in the bisque. My streak and ale pie contained three meager pieces of steak and a singular mushroom cut in half, the pastry was very thick and not cooked through. I told the unhelpful and downright rude young man what was wrong and he couldn't get away fast enough saying over his shoulder, he'd tell the chef! As we left, we passed him in the doorway and he didn't say a word, ignoring us, totally. No feedback from chef or staff. A VERY disappointing experience. We went next door to the Filipino cafe for pudding and cafe and what a joy that was. Do yourself a favour, walk past the Commodore and go the Cafe next door.
