Quality Inn South Hill I-85

I made the mistake of believing the rating average on both TA and the CH website. Big mistake! Choice Hotels really needs to pull the franchise of this one. This place is both scary and sketchy late at night. First, that "FEMA Approval" for government employees is meaningless. Why? The smoke detector looks like its been stolen, if not outright destroyed. The next thing I noticed was an ash of some type on the nightstand. Tobacco? ****? Who knows? The "hotel bar" on the door looks like its been replaced at least once. Kicked-In, perhaps? The drape in the room has the scars of many burns. Finally, to add insult to injury, at checkout around 9AM, the main lobby entrance doors were still locked for security reasons from the night before. This required a long walk around to the side doors which were unlocked. To call this place a dump gives dumps a bad name. This is one of those hotels in dire need of a full reconstruction from ground level on up. Ths place is bad. Really bad. It probably has a bright future as a "Knights Inn" or an "Americas Best Value Inn". It's likely that Choice Hotels is already aware of this place as they didn't send me their usual online questionaire about my stay. That's a bad sign. Recomendation? You'll be more comfortable -and perhaps safer- sleeping in your car at a rest stop on I-95. Stay away. Far away...

The toilet didn't work, hotel under construction, it was tragic. Furniture equipment placed outside of unoccupied rooms.( i took pictures). Moldy spells in lobby and as soon as you enter the rooms. I was sadden and in tear's. I checked out immediately.

I do not believe room was complele for my arrival. Painting not finished, T.V. not ready for usage.

Carpet is old and worn out. Overall property and stairways need a lot of cleaning. Choice Hotel shows this property as a 3.7 out of 5 rating. I stay at Choice Hotels primarily and this should be rated as a 2.5 star property. I won't be back.

After 600 miles of driving for the day, I was exhausted and cranky. I was greeted by the sweetest desk clerk named Leah. I did not have a reservation because I didn’t know where I would end up stopping. She upgraded me to a hot tub room for regular price and sent me to my room happy. The room itself was ok. Some minor issues but nothing to make me want to leave. The room was dark and quiet and that was what I needed. I went to check out in the morning and Leah was there again. Yes they did let her go home and she was back. Breakfast was the usual fare. Leah topped off my coffee when the urn emptied and got waffle batter for the empty waffle maker. Thank you Leah for making this cranky man happy. Hopefully your boss sees this and is so impressed that he sends you to Hawaii for a week
