Don't come here unless your face fits or your a regular, came just at 9pm and told bar closed even though lots in and google says 12.30am closed our faces didn't fit because we are not regular customers, shame as just live up road and could become regular customers

Went for sunday lunch to enjoy my Gluten free fish and chips . A rare treat for me hard to find . They were delicious my hubby also enjoyed his fish and chips ( normal ) followed by a Choc Pava with sorbet. Staff lovely ,very attentive despite being busy keep this good standard up H&A especially during this difficult time for hospitality businesses 👏

Absolutely delicious! We went as a party of 6, had starters, mains and dessert, and all was just lovely. Starters included oysters, chowder, mushroom parfait and pate, all very tasty. Maine included chateaubriand and prawns, all cooked beautifully and just delicious. Pudding triumph was the bread and butter pudding with banana… was just gorgeous. Service was fabulous too. We will definitely be back!

Unfortunately I cant go into detail as Tripadvisor wont allow the truth to be told. So in summary, take your hard earned money else where. This is not my first Michelin restaurant as I have traveled for many years and live abroad, now retired, It is however the first time having such a shocking experience which management could have taken steps to help ensure doesn't happen again, but they are not interested.

My honest words sharing our experience dining here have been found unacceptable by Tripadvisor. The truth is being hidden. Anyway, I shall try again. After reading reviews I kind of think that the young trouble makers who verbally harassed us on the table behind, is indicative of the need to let anyone in who can afford it. Eventually the management made them leave but would I pay one hundred and seventy five pounds for this upsetting situation again, absolutely no way.

Lovely place, great food, great service, spoiled horribly by the obnoxious yobs with Beanies on and trouble written all over them on the table behind us. Not my first time at fine dining by any means. Just don't understand how characters that are like gang bangers are welcomed. Management says they like to have it as an all inclusive environment. Not wishing to entertain establishing any standards or code for those that enter. They did end up kicking them out but not only after I had had enough of their verbal attacks and took matters into my own hands which shamefully, I wished I hadn't had to do.

We regularly visit the Hope and Anchor and booked recently ... even after seeing some of the latest reviews. Whether it is because we are known, or most probably our two Giant Schnauzers are better known, we had a great visit. I understand that service can be a personal thing and not to everyone's liking. But if you want a quick meal with previously prepared food, then maybe a different type of pub would be better! We took around 90 minutes to enjoy two freshly prepared courses. Something we wanted was not available, we chose something else, but if they stocked everything all of the time, the wastage would be huge and the price would go up even more. We paid over £100 for our two courses and drinks, with the dogs enjoying two portions of gourmet sausages at the same time. I know there is a populous that doesn't approve of dogs in pubs, but, they also have a restaurant serving the same menu which is dog free. Well behaved dogs (in the main) are not issues and can add to a great meal. A little more reference to canine acceptance, on their website might be educational? The staff are also happy to accommodate doggy requirements and water is available just inside the door in bowls. I think every establishment can have good and potentially bad days. On this occasion (as with most of them) everything was smooth and on time. I find the staff extremely approachable and also accommodating, So don't leave the pub with a bad taste and then leave a bad review, I find a sensible chat and the ability to let them sort it out (in whatever way) actually improves relationships, and repeat visitors. Their awards speak for themselves... keep up the good work guys

The Hope and Anchor has comfortable seating, was very clean, and has a pleasant decor with views over the Humber estuary but didn't live up to all the Michelin plaques it displays with such pride. The waitress was very attentive but the dining experience was seriously let down by the overly ambitious menu. Our wild garlic houmous starters were beautifully presented but ridiculously salty, the Sea Bream dish was supposed to be the 'catch of the day' yet the fish was dry, the H&A veggie burger tasted overwhelmingly of rosemary and the stem ginger within the ginger sponge desert masked any taste of the rhubarb. All in all, it was an expensive and underwhelming night out for what should have been a special celebration.
