We booked Monkey Island after reading some excellent reviews and we were not disappointed! It is located on a private island on the River Thames which is quite unique. Our bedroom and bathroom was perfectly appointed and had everything in it that we needed. In addition to this, it was spotlessly clean with complimentary Elemis bath products, a definite plus. The grounds of the hotel are impressive and beautifully kept with a wonderful. floating spa. My wife had a massage which she said was the best she had ever had and believe me she has had many!! We had dinner twice in the hotel and it did not disappoint. The hotel is perfectly based for visiting Windsor castle and surrounding attractions as well as central London. We cannot wait to return!

We chose to stay at Monkey Island due to the good reviews. The location certainly is remarkable, set on an island on the river Thames. We used the hotel as a base to visit The Fat Duck nearby. Hence we can only give feedback on the room, which was very small (no where for a case without tripping over it). Only one chair in the room and we had to think about when to manoeuvre around the room with two of us in there. This wasn't a basic room either. We had paid for a patio area, which to be fair, would have given added value in summer. However, although patio seating was 'undercover' it was soaking wet due to leaking from above. We arrived to find no toiletries in our room and had to chase up. We did get a complementary bottle of Prosecco in the room, but as we were dining out we didn't require. On a plus the mini bar was free (no spirits as I would say was fair) and there was a pleasant lounge. Incredibly expensive at £415 for the one night excluding breakfast. Full (cooked buffet style) breakfast £40 per head on top (no thank you). Currently in a cheap airport hotel at an eighth of price and twice the size. Admittedly the setting isnt beautiful but out of season that needs to be within reason. Room 109

The service was superb the staff lovely the food very good But the room was awful so small not even a bedside table . no where to put your case and only one chair in the room . To move round the bed impossible The shower cubicle smelt and I had ti spray perfume every time i opened it it’s a pity really because it is so well kept and the staff so nice Because if the size of the room even for £250 for one Friday night we will not be returning

We had an excellent three night stay with the Monkey Island estate. Service was exceptional, particularly at breakfast from Karla, Tanya and Luke. Would highly recommend if visiting the Fat Duck in nearby Bray. Some lovely local walks too along the Thames and around Bray Lake, feels close to nature but very comfortable and luxurious too.

I spent one evening here as part of a birthday trip, and the experience was wonderful. The hotel is very nice, and the staff are incredibly friendly, especially José, who gave us a warm welcome during check-in. The room was lovely, and everything was spotlessly clean. Breakfast was also excellent, making the stay even more enjoyable. We will definitely be coming back!

My husband and I came as a special treat to celebrate our anniversary. The hotel and grounds are absolutely beautiful and it was a lovely touch to have prosecco and flower petals in the room on arrival. The room was spotlessly clean however and the lady that checked us in was really friendly and welcoming. There were a few things that were not right, particularly for such an expensive hotel. When we walked past the reception in the hotel area, we greeted the member of staff behind the desk and he didn't even look up to acknoweledge us. We paid extra to upgrade and we are pleased we did as the basic rooms are in the car park. Our room was very small, so much so that one side could not have a bedside table as it was so close to the desk. The blind in the room was broken, the reading lights above the bed didn't work and the shower completey flooded the bathroom as water leaked through the shower door. The air conditioning was also extremely loud so we just turned that off. These are not huge things and I just wanted to let the member of staff know when we checked out. He was very unfriendly and did not once apologise. He just said, "You should have told us earlier." I understand this but I explained that we were only staying for one night and arrived in the room late so there was no point moving. I simply thought an apology would have been appreciated. We were not after any money back - just to inform them of the issues in the room. Overall, a beautiful hotel in beautiful surroundings. Just a few customer service issues that could be addressed easily.

This was our second stay at Monkey Island, but unfortunately, it fell short of the high expectations set by our first visit. The experience started on a positive note, with a complimentary bottle of chilled Prosecco awaiting us in our room—a thoughtful gesture to celebrate our anniversary. However, the excitement soon faded as we realised the air conditioning in our room was faulty and only blowing out hot air with no way of turning it off making it impossible to cool the temperature below 25°C, which was far from ideal on a warm summer evening. We did let the front desk know but said there was nothing they could do other than offer as a fan. Breakfast was another letdown. When we arrived around 10 AM, no tables were set up, and most of the buffet trays were nearly empty. The food that remained was cold, and several guests, including us, had to request that the dishes be replenished. Typically, I wouldn't bring these issues to Tripadvisor, but when we provided feedback at check-out, it seemed to go unheard.

Just had the perfect stay at Monkey Island Estate! We were upgraded (twice!), and when they found out it was our silver wedding anniversary they surprised us with a complementary bottle of bubbly and pre-dinner cocktails. Just the most beautiful venue for a short romantic getaway. Celine looked after us wonderfully! Thank you!
