Reserved a group of 12. Staff can't handle a large group.Everything doesn't have to arrive at once, just get things right. I had a big thick 8oz burger that was dry as sawdust and burnt black for 1/8" deep on both sides. The cook should be ashamed to send food out that looked like that. What else is being done to the food if a simple burger can be served in that condition? I don't usually complain so as we were leaving my wife spoke to the server and all she got was an apology. As I sit here regurgtating burnt burger I get more and more upset and had to say something .

My family, and I, have been going to the Spectacle Lake lodge for decades. The Mahussier family who used to own it kept the standards high (they even ran my high school cafeteria in the 2000s and the selections were wonderful!). Visits last year and this under different owners leave much to be desired. On Canada day, we were the only party in the restaurant. It started to go downhill from the drink order. My daughter asked for a Coke; our server returned and said they had none so she had Sprite instead. After numerous people ordered, the server returned and said they had no fettuccini for the 2 people that ordered the "Off the Shore Fettucini," could penne be a substitute? Ok. Another return visit "We have no scallops for the Off the Shore Fettuccini...a reluctant ok. 45 minutes later our food finally arrived. The dishes were drenched in cream sauce and loaded with penne to make up for the lack of ingredients. Plus the "Off the Shore Fettucini" didn't have any smoked salmon either. Our server didn't return to see if we wanted more beverages in the meantime, (she stood behind the server wall on her phone). Most of us couldn't finish our dishes, there was too much overcooked penne drowned in cream sauce. Two people ordered "Chicken Parm" and they were overcooked chicken nuggets (!!) with a little bit of tomato sauce on top of a pile of over-creamed penne. My two daughters then wanted ice cream that came with their kids meal. The server returned again..."sorry, we don't have any ice cream." Really? Wow, the shortages were getting ridiculous. Instead, chocolate lava cakes were given to them which they didn't finish either as they were too dry. The adults said the same. The fact that paperwork was strewn all over a table in the main dining room and Roombas were plugged into wall outlets in the dining room also doesn't give off a professional vibe either...nor did the old bacon under our tables that was there for who knows how long. Oh, and on the way out the door, I looked in the front fridge by the cash register...there were cans of Coke in there... This place has been better, it could be better...but more work is needed. The exterior is run down too. There are grocery stores nearby where ingredients can be purchased at the last minute. Sure, trees did block the road after a storm a week and a half before...but that's no excuse for the poor service and food. We are not recommending this place to others and doubt we'll go back...until we hear things are better or new owners bring it back to it's glory.

I travelled from Alberta to visit my family. Myself and 2 sisters went to supper at the Lodge. The service was excellent, the entire meal including dessert was greatly enjoyed and was excellent. Our server, Louetta, went above and beyond to make our occasion memorable by taking pictures of my sisters and myself down by the lake. I plan to make this a yearly event with my sisters. Hopefully we will book a cabin and make it a fun weekend next time.

Beautiful location! Restaurant is affordable and tasty! Cabins are shabby and dirty. Free use of water toys is nice but the equipment has been heavily used and one canoe leaked. Life preservers available. Activities room was great for a rain day. Pool table, shuffle board, fuse ball. Nice hikes and all cabins have a picturesque view of the lake.

We had a family weekend gathering and found the facility to have all the charm to be expected of a cottage/lodge. Cottages and rooms are clean, neat, comfortable and tastefully decorated. The amenities provided were certainly suitable for our family gathering of four generations providing winter snow for the younger ones to play in and a warm cozy fire in the lodge fireplace with fireside comfortable seating. The Terrace area kept others busy playing pool, shuffleboard, and darts with lots of catch up conversations. In the morning the Sunroom overlooking the patio and lake is the perfect setting for that first cup of coffee and breakfast of your choice. Menu options are wide and Chef Jen ensured all tastes were met, even addressing some dietary challenges. Another larger group were there for lunch and there were numerous compliments extended to Chef Jen for the delicious lunch provided. Would highly recommend Spectacle Lake Lodge for family gatherings, birthdays, anniversary parties etc.

Brought my family of four to share and enjoy an experience that my wife and I had many years before. A snowmobile trip for the ages. Unfortunately, this one time gem has disappointed us tremendously. It started when our room wasn't even prepared (arrived at 5pm), the beds looked like they were just slept in and the facet in the bathroom was running and it couldn't be turned off. They cleaned the room and shout off the water and advised they would fix it the next day, they never did and we stayed for 3 nights. The rooms are substandard and very expensive. No spot for us to sit and the master bedroom has 8 inches of leg room on either side. Carpet was old and stained. No activities, small hot tub (a little dirty), no outside fires...just sad. The food was okay, but every time we eat at the restaurant our order was wrong and sometimes cold. The first night we eat, they forgot about us for over an hour, we had to wave down the waitress and then she forgot us again. They forgot the appetizers and then they brought them during our main course. The food was too expensive, $20 for a hamburger put that's what to expect these days. The parking area had tons of snow that wasn't removed and staff we parking their vehicles right in front of the pathways leading to the entrance. Very difficult to get around. We are so disappointed and somewhat heart broken, considering the great memories we once had there. Although the snowmobile trails were great, the experience at the lodge was bad. Sorry, but we won't be back.

It is a little out of our way, but we had been there for breakfast in the summer and it is a cute place. So, we decided to go for dinner. We were not disappointed. We had the smoked prime rib and it was excellent. Service was awesome! Definitely would recommend and will be going back again.

Would definitely not recommend. Been going there since 2000 for our honeymoon then anniversary every year! The last few have been very disappointing.. Always minimum 2 hrs for dinner, this year 2 hrs then our orders were totally wrong, instead of prime rib we got steak. this year no heat or even hydro in our cabin! Waited over an hr for someone to come and fix it. When it was fixed we wanted to grab a drink while the cabin warmed up , the bar was all locked up, it was only 9 p.m. Breakfast was to be buffet, when we arrived at 8 the buffet hadn't even been started! Thanks for ruining an anniversary tradition! We will find another place to start a tradition, one where customers are appreciated and respected!

Went with a group to celebrate a 40th anniversary. The group table sat empty while they crammed us beside the empty group table around 4 round tables. I wondered what was wrong with us? It took 2 hours to get the main course, then almost everyone's food was cold, and I mean cold. They took away 2 of our plates when we finally got someone to listen, and then returned with cold food again, yorkshire pudding was refrigerator temp. One guest ordered a rye and coke, and received scotch and coke. The buffet was chosen by 2 guests, and at least 1/3 (5 or 6) of the items advertised were not available on the buffet. The meal was very expensive. When I asked if they or the owner would like to hear my concerns when trying to pay my bill the owner walked by and did not even acknowledge me or any of our group. What a terrible way to treat a couple and their family and friends celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary. I will not go again, and hope others heed this poor service and food.
