Hôtel Restaurant la Vallée Noble, Proche Eguisheim Colmar

We were warmly welcomed at the hotel, which is well located in the middle of a forest with plenty of hiking trails. The breakfast is excellent. However, we also experienced several things that are not acceptable. We stayed in the non-renovated wing of the hotel, and it is clearly below standard. The paint on the terrace floor is peeling, one of the chairs out there was broken – and to even be able to fully open the door to the terrace, you have to move the bed. The room also had a nasty, perfumed smell, and we discovered an electronic device emitting bursts of fragrance at regular intervals; we had to ask the reception to remove it. The bathroom is very worn and lacking basic features like ample places to hang your towel to dry. The pool area, however, is generally fine. The pool is decent and fairly large, and the area is clean. But the sauna is falling apart: the floor is yellow from water deposits, the door doesn’t close properly, and the slats on the benches are coming loose. The staff were kind and friendly, but it’s clear that especially the old wing of the hotel is in urgent need of investment – we have no wish to stay there again. Also: Be aware that the hotel restaurant is closed on Sundays and Mondays – even here in August, which is peak season. So on those days you have to drive a few kilometres into town for dinner.

Great hotel, staff very friendly, rooms very clean, we are recurrent clients and love to go there. The restaurant is equally as great, an excellent balanced card and the service polite, friendly, discreet and efficient. Excellent choice of wine. The bar is quiet and cosy
