Sorell Barracks

Beautiful old buildings offering a range of accommodations that are warm, cosy, and have all the modern conveniences. Terry & Lynn are wonderful hosts that communicate very well with guests. Very clean. Quiet. Carpark steps away from the accommodation. Excellent location to Hobart airport and exploring the surrounding area.

We stayed in the cottage. Decorated in suitable period decor which is lovely. Bed and bedding very comfortable. Electric blanket and heater. Kitchenette includes kettle, microwave crockery and cutlery. We really loved our stay. Great location. Shops and eateries within walking distance. Fuss free self checkin. So peaceful and a lovely outdoor setting too.

Opened the door and faced a set of steep stairs with no hand rail. I would not like to carry a big bag up them and certainly not down. The room was in the roof so the ceiling was low with plenty of things to bang your head on. Overall the place needs decorating as it is very run down and past it best. However, whilst you could try to cover over some of the problems by saying it’s an old building and we are try to keep things in the style of the building, you cannot excuse the fact that the room needed a good clean. The bedside table was thick with dust, the bathroom had a layer of thick dust, the table in the “kitchen” section had food over it. When you are running a business you need to put some effort in. The only saving grace was that the shower was good. Would not return.

The Sorell Barracks' Garden Shed which i stayed in for a night was well equipped, comfortable, secure and warm. The 4 poster double bed was charming. The TV reception was good. The heater worked. The kitchenette was well equipped. There was plenty of hot water for the shower. The front door key was in a key safe on the door, the code to which was txted to me on the day of arrival. I never did see or hear the owners / managers, which felt a bit odd, but I'm sure they were contactable had I needed to. I'd happily stay again, and can recommend the place to all who look for accommodation that is not absolutely stereotypical.

Cute Cute place. Very little cottage (we we’re at the garden cottage) Cute design, I wasn’t very connected to the historical part.. for me it was just old and small. Very nice hosting, the communication via phone.

Weekend Break It was very enjoyable weekend break from daily grind of the city life.
