Gunn House Hotel

Old historic hotel with some charm but ... it's old & historic which means you don't get the comforts of a modern hotel. The rooms were on the smallish side and dimly lit. The bathroom had a small sink with little counter space, the hot water handle wouldn't turn and the sink plug didn't work ... and the water had a funky old pipe taste. The beds weren't very comfortable and the room was generally noisy. The walls are thin and you could hear every creak in the wooden floor boards from the people upstairs. We were in room #17 which was right next to the pool and a common seating area which meant alot of foot traffic. I don't recommend that room. I didn't try the pool but I understand that it's not heated and I don't believe there's a hot tub. There is a breakfast but we didn't get to try it because it didn't open until 8am which doesn't work out very well if you're an early riser.

Our annual golf tournament brings us to Sorona every year, and this is a great spot to rest at the end of the night. The beds are comfortable, the sheets are clean, the shower is hot, and the proximity to downtown entertainment can't be beat. Don't bother looking elsewhere.

quality of the room and service when arrived was sketchy. first room he showed us the bathroom sinks and toilet were clogged up and a bottle of Drano was sitting on the bathroom sink, Manager Gary showed us another room, remote to the fan had been stolen and suggested we climb up on a chair to operate the furnace the room appeared to have been broken into like a crowbar had been taken to it to pry it open we said no we cannot stay, he showed us a third room that was behind the hotel 3rd floor, room did not have a locking door and a hole in the door that you could see outside and inside the unit, with further checking the room, the bathroom tile had mold in the grout lines, and a tub only with a ratty shower curtain hanging and no step in or rail to use for a handicap person. The bedding had marks on the bedspread from a water leak. I had told the manager, my sister was in chemo treatment and her immune system very comprised and that the rooms he showed would not work for us. we had to leave to find another hotel. Gary suggested the best western. he said when ******* called to verify us leaving he would refund all the expense of the 3-night reservation, he also said his mother was just recovering from the same treatments and he understood that we could not stay. I asked for a refund on my credit card, he said because I book through ******* he could not refund until ******* called him. I have been given the runaround from this hotel and ******* for the refund for 5 days ******* promised that contacting the Mgr. to verify our claim we would be promptly refunded. Here we are 5 days later and still no email or phone call to resolve this issue. I did add booking protection plan and paid for that to secure no problems on a refund. we are very disappointed and would dot recommend this hotel to anyone! It looks and is nothing like the website description. beware of this shady location and the owners.
