Motel 6 Sonora, TX

This is a budget motel to spend a night on the road, so no one expects any frills. The property does look better than average, and the room was spacious, clean and bright without carpeting. Comfortable bed and pillows. Room amenities included microwave and fridge. Desk area with convenient power jacks. Easy parking. However, the place failed at some of the basics: - In the evening the shower was barely warm even after letting the water run for several minutes - Despite a below-freezing outside temperature, the bed had only one super-thin blanket, and there were no extra blankets Other issues included: no toilet lid, the microwave was missing the rotating tray support, the ice machine was broken and wifi was so slow to be nearly unusable. Moreover, at check-in I handed the credit card I wanted to use to the front desk employee, but instead she charged the credit card on file for the reservation. I didn't notice right away because the receipt didn't include the credit card number. At check-out, when I asked them to charge the correct card and refund the other one, they told me they couldn't do it.

Excellent budget motel. Clean rooms. Laminate floors so not worry about accidents. Friendly staff. Extra large doggie run, well maintained, fenced with poop bags provided. And "they left the light on for us."

We had a wonderful reception without a reservation. The hostess was very accommodating and informative about our desires; local attractions, the adjoining steakhouse, weather, etc. The room was recently renovated to the Motel 6 standards but it still featured microwave and refrigerator which many do not. The only fall back was that per request, we had a ground floor room and there was construction ongoing in the 2nd flood unit above us. Overall, we were pleasantly surprised for the price.

Clean room, good smell, fairly comfortable bed, and good value. This is the kind of place we always look for as modest travelers. This place met our needs, but don't expect too much. The walls are very thin, and the shower made a lot of noise. On the other hand, the staff was very friendly.
