Nice bathroom with heated floor and comfy bed. Balcony was not clean. Closet was antique but doors do not close properly. Stairs are very steep and one step of the wooden staircase is broken with a huge nail sticking out. No elevator available. Breakfast was an absolute disappointment, we did not eat there the second day.

I surprised my wife with a visit to Somerset, and we had the pleasure of staying at De Molen Guest House. Out of all the places I've visited, this guest house stands out as one of the most beautiful spaces to be in. The service was exceptional—definitely deserving of a four-star rating. The rooms were clean and well-maintained, providing a comfortable retreat. Additionally, the serene atmosphere made for a truly peaceful stay. I highly recommend De Molen Guest House for anyone looking for a charming and relaxing getaway. We can't wait to return!

Joris, Christie and all their staff made me feel most welcome and at home during my ten day stay. The room had an excellent view and was kept spotlessly tidy and clean every day. The Full English Breakfast was of high quality every morning, albeit the portion size was far too much for me to eat, it was definitely value for money. The tranquil location of the guest house allowed me to relax every day after a long day of work. Many thanks for your wonderful hospitality. Regards Andrew

I have mixed feelings about De Molen. Our first stay, one year ago, was nice. Our second stay, in a converted cottage was convenient. Our last stay just now in a room on ground level with outside terrace was not the right value for money. Tap and toilet seat were loose. Bathroom rug was dirty. The room was very noisy and looked worn out. Based on the first 2 experiences. I have recommended de Molen to several people. I will no longer do so. I do want to mention that the staff is very friendly.

The place is at an obscure area, far from the centre. Our room (room 6) was accessible via 2 flights of stairs, one a crackling wooden flight, which we had to climb with luggage. I realized when we visited our friends' rooms (they convinced us to book there after they had done so) that theirs, on the first floor, were a lot better. At breakfast, I asked for a cappuccino instead of coffee both mornings, and got a tiny cup of it. At check-out, I was asked to pay R 50 for it, when no one had mentioned that there was an extra charge for it. My husband does not eat pork, so all he had was eggs for the his breakfast, because there was nothing else. We were so cold the first night, and asked for an extra blanket the following night - there are only throws, so we got yet another one. Cape Town was cold and wet. The aircon helped a lot when we were not sleeping.
