Joia Paraíso by Iberostar

This hotel is nice and clean. The staff are friendly and hospitable. The rooms are spacious and the beds are comfy. The entertainment was really good and had a good variety. The food was disappointing, breakfast was always lukewarm, their lack of awareness on allergies is concerning and it’s seems to always be the same food. The food at the beach restaurant was the highlight! So good, we eat there everyday. There is a lot of iguanas which I hate so couldn’t ever relax. The cabanas weren’t the best if you wanted to keep out the sun so moveable umbrellas would have been better. Overall it was a pleasant stay. I’d love to say we’d come back but only when the food has improved.

The service, amenities, and vibe were all too notch. We got the beach room while our friends got the room with a private pool, both were excellent. Fun pool events (pole dancing, aerobics, poker, and more) happened every day. Hard not to enjoy ourselves with such great people.

This is the best resort I have ever experienced! I call it an experience because that is what it was for us. From food to cleanliness to customer service, I cannot express how great this resort is! This is a treasure and please don’t miss out on this one! I guarantee this one is a gold star!

This was our second visit to Joia Paraiso (formerly known as the Grand) and we were thrilled. Our visit this time was with our two youngest adult children What made this trip so outstanding? (And bear in mind we have visited Mexico 30 times in the last 18 years at all the major hotels.) The place is stunning, the rooms are beautiful and the staff overdeliver which is exactly what customers want for an experience. Let's break it down a bit: The beach: I was expecting seaweed on the beach but to the left of the resort entrance to the beach there was NO seaweed however you had to heed the signs where jellyfish were present in certain sections of the beach. Go left not right as the currents send seaweed to the right of the resort. There is even decent snorkeling in the coral areas off the beach. I saw two guys spear fishing and they each caught some 10 kg size fish. Reception: Mauricio and Sacnite and others are super nice and helpful - a delightful change from other hotel chains Bellmen: Fantastic - especially kindly Jorge who went out of his way to golf cart us whenever and wherever we wanted to go. Lobby bar: Great brands, beautiful drinks. My favourite, a double Don Julio reposado mixed into a shaken strawberry margarita. Barmen are very warm as was Estella one of the wait staff. They go out of their way to make things perfect. Evening Entertainment: Cut above many other hotels we have visited. Fire show, Circus, Decades shows are not to be missed! Restaurants: Buffet is by far the best. French and teppanyaki - the food was just not up to standard. Service in all restaurants fantastic and shout outs to Wilbert, Mario, Luis, Roberto, Jonathan and so many others for making our stay so special. Pool entertainment team: Outstanding group of people - Fernanda, VittyVittyBonBon (4 language lingual), Cynthia and so many others are personable, engaged and pleasant young people who engage everyone - young and old in activities. Pool bar: Victor, Lenin, Mario and all the staff there were wonderful. Lots of bees around the bar though so be careful. Sometimes better to order from the staff that attend around the pool. Only one minor negative was the beach rental shop that serves all the Iberostar Hotels. What's with the lack of Jet skis to rent? I could not book 2 Jetski rentals on any day at any hour during a 7 day trip. That's after waiting to get this news while waiting in the blazing sun for an hour. Just not worth the bother. Overall a 5 star trip because of the beautiful facilities and incredible staff! We will be back.
