Barceló Maya Palace - All Inclusive

My mom and I came To Barceló maya palace to celebrate both of our birthdays and we had a blast !! Everyone was amazing. Everado helped us make reservations to each restaurant we wanted to go to during our stay and he was exceptional, very kind and sweet. The picture below was given to my mom from the staff and we dearly appreciate it ( i had Some to because it’s almost my birthday )

My husband and I along with our adult daughter, her now fiancee (they were engaged while here❤️) and another couple vacationed here at Barcelo Maya Palace from January 17 - 24. This resort is excellent all around! The staff are amazing! They are very attentive to your needs and very friendly! The resort(s) is clean. Our room was large, clean, well appointed and very comfortable with daily stocked fridge of cervesas, juice, soda, water, and snacks. The washrooms in public spaces that we visited were always being staffed and cleaned. The food in the a la cartes were always very good and if there was one thing we weren't to fond of, guaranteed the rest of the meal was amazing! 6 people, 6 different tastes, we all found positive things to say about something and enjoyed them very much! The buffets were very good, I have been to a lot of AI's and this was the best by far!! We ate at Hacienda the most, they had great Mexican dishes! I would like to especially mention Ramon Pevez! We would have him as our server at the Hacienda Buffet most days for lunch or breakfast and he is just the sweetest and so very thoughtful hard working young gentleman! He and Job Gomez made our meals that much more enjoyable! He even prepared an awesome dessert, special coffee's, and mimosas on our last day ❤️. Drinks at the pool bars and lobby were awesome and we definitely imbibed! The pools are amazing, so many to choose from while staying at the Palace as you have access to the other resorts. The beach is beautiful and we got to swim with the turtles 🐢 which was a highlight for my daughter and I! My soon to be son in law proposed to my daughter on the point in front of the Palace, what an amazing backdrop at golden hour 💞. We had the best time at the Palace and can't wait to return, we're already talking about planning our next visit!!

With many frustrating experiences concerning the room assignments, Sofia, in the premium club came through 100% for our family to be moved into a more reasonable location. She was also very helpful in explaining how to make our next visit go without any miscommunications. Give Sofia a big plus for her patience and assistance.

We booked the trip through the hotel with their transportation. Our plane was late, so I can understand someone not waiting for us when we arrived. We called the transport service and a rep arrived within 5 minutes and a transport van arrived within 20 minutes, but then the driver had to fill up fuel on the way to the hotel. There was no line at checkin, but they don't have detailed maps, so super tired we were wondering around with our luggage looking for the room. Over the week of our stay, we helped many other new arrivals find their rooms. So here's my breakdown: All staff is amazing (from entertainment, restaurants/buffets, bars and son in). The beach has a reef extremely close and they have resident sea turtles that come in as close as waist deep to shore! Our main activity was snorkeling, bring your own snorkels. The rooms are nice and had two couches that they turned into beds for the kids, which was awesome! The food was ok, fruits were not ripe buffet food items were stale at timesbut they always had fresh chicken, beef and pork cooking on the grill and some salads to choose from. Food items were definitely re-used in dishes or re-served for several days, especially breads/desserts. So you kinda have to look what's there the previous days. The bars have very processed juices they use for drinks, so you just have to be thoughtful in what you order. Dos Equis is he beer on tap. We had Manhattans that met our drink preferences and I am sure there are other drinks you can have to avoid the sugar high/food coloring. The cocos bar always had a line to it, they could have staffed it better.the food at the three restaurants was great. And once again, all staff is amazing! The water sports center however was a nightmare to deal with, and we just avoided it after our 1 encounter. The staff their is not friendly, and change the story they tell. Non electric water sports included is false advertisement. You can only rent sail boats (hobie catamarans). You can get lessons, but there is no lesson, they instructor just drives the boat. I wanted my kids to have a sailing lesson, the instructor just drove the boat, when I asked about teaching the kids, he just said not enough wind, not sure how those two are related. You can only rent a kayak and other non motorized water equipment if you were signed up for a catamaran and there was no wind. Because this was so disappointing, we just avoided it and spent our time snorkeling and in the pools.

Our family traveled in for a vacation. We had a great weeks worth of fun in the sun. We used the pools and water park every day. We also frequented the beach and got to swim with some beautiful fish.
