Good points: - The staff speaks English and is welcome. - Comfortable bedroom. - Possibility to leave our luggage at the hotel after Check-out. - Secure location. - Settled near the centre. Missly pointed: - We had the wrong surprise to find a dead coffin in the room during our stay. - This was very small and not practical bathroom. Furthermore, it was filled with humidity and we had no soap at our disposal. - The mosquito was all-present on the floor and the walls. - Noise room (passage of aircraft). - There are very high and difficult access to the current. - A lot of spiders at the ceiling. In summary, negative points are unfortunately awarded on positive points, which justifies our 2/5 note.

We had an amazing stay at this hotel. First, it’s totally new so everything is perfect and clean. Then, the rooms are really big, for the second night we got studio, and it’s like an apartment with bedroom and living room and a big couch. So you feel really relaxed and it’s nice spending time there. Also, the hotel probably has a great cook because the breakfast was outstanding - not a big choice but everything is extremely tasty. Also try fish soup for dinner, we loved it so much that we ended up coming back for it the second day. There are just two downsides (for me, you might not care) - the hotel has a cute patio where you can sit and have coffee, but the problem is, the patio is projected the way that makes voices really loud, and all windows overlook the patio - it makes it impossible to sleep when someone is talking there, and someone is talking there almost all the time. This made me wake up at 7 and go out at 12 at night asking people to be quieter. But if you are fine closing the windows that solves the problem (we just don’t like conditioners and sleep with open windows). And also the mattresses are very hard, but that’s a matter of taste. Other than that, amazing place. Not exactly in the center but it’s about 15-20 minutes walking, and in June the street was full of linden trees with amazing smell.

This hotel was practically next door to the Serdica ancient Roman complex, so as soon as we had checked in, we went out and roamed among the ruins for awhile. But it's actually a perfect location for all your exploration, walking tours, historic sites, etc. The breakfasts were served in the little restaurant on the 1st floor, and it included lots of options. The staff were helpful and friendly, including giving me directions to a laundry, holding our luggage for awhile on our leaving day, and other courtesies. We recommend this hotel, and would stay there again if we ever go to Sofia again.

The location of this small hotel is superb, right on the main pedestrian boulevard. Easy access to tourist sites and restaurants and cafes. We had two different types of rooms; the first was quite large, but very dim and dark, several light bulbs were out,.Sort of high fashion, but zero function. There was a desk with no lighting on it to work, no place to plug in devices, the shower leaked in a big way all over the floor, not enough ttowels. Would only give us one key ”because they often aren't returned”. Lobby is tiny, utilitarian only. The second room was much smaller; again, the desk had no light above it or on it where one could work. No place to plug in devices, not even a location for one suitcase, let alone two that two people travel with. Didn't eat breakfast as it was too expensive and there are lots of good cafes nearby with excellent espressos and pastries. Would not stay here again.

It’s an awesome hotel with a minimalistic good design, great restaurant, pool and team of professionals. I advice to book higher floors to enjoy the Mountain View. Breakfasts were great, not huge choice but good quality. Specific thanks to Slavka for giving such a good service.

As soon as we walked through the door, we were greeted by a uniformed man, who welcomed us to the hotel and took us to the reception desk, having looked after our bags, which were later taken to our room. The lady at reception treated us with great courtesy and efficiency, and therefore, from the outset, we realised we were in a well-run five star hotel with professional and helpful staff. Our bedroom was stylishly decorated in cool shades of grey, with two wide beds, a panoramic window with a view of Vitosha mountain, and the marble bathroom was of a good size, with modern fittings and a lovely walk-in shower. We had booked the Club Room and were not disappointed with the newly opened Club Lounge. They offer refreshments during the afternoon and then ‘happy hour’ from 6-8 pm. We found the service really excellent, with staff keen to help, and spent delightful early evenings having drinks and eating an enticing array of canapés. Breakfasts were also excellent in the Europa restaurant with a wide selection of cooked and cold options from the buffet, and dishes cooked to order such as omelettes and eggs benedict. One last point to mention - we found the Chief Concierge - Todor Goranchovski - most helpful in booking us restaurants and directing us to some notable attractions in Sofia: he was great. The Intercontinental is really a top class hotel and we would not hesitate to stay there again - thank you to everyone who made our stay memorable.

Because of the meeting, the price has skyrocketed many times, but it is really convenient to go to the opposite side for a meeting. It is a good hotel under the local economic conditions. I stayed at this hotel during a dance festival and this was actually one of the few advantages of this hotel (all the workshops here held there). Cleaning ok. It is very cold in room (I slept on a sofe near the windows and I could not sleep because of the cold and the noise coming from outside). Breakfast is quite poor in terms of options (if you decide to have breakfast after 8:30, you will see that there is not much food left and they do not bring more). Also, they charge you for the parking. the card does not work when you want to exist the parking and since the doorman does not speak English it is quite difficult to explain that you have already paid for the parking.

Room very nice, housekeepinh every day take off gabgage and refill everything for bathroom, maybe it wpuld be nice to clean windows propperly and below bed, but for this price is very good. GGuest UserCasa Ferrari was a lovely place to stay in Sofia for a couple of nights. The host, Ludmil, is simply one of the very best - he has a great knowledge of the history of Sofia (and Buglaria and the Balkan region in general) and is a great resource for sights to see, how to plan your day, getting a taxi, nice little restaurants in the area, etc. And a great conversationalist in general! He also helped me out with a last minute change of plans. The B&B has a very comfortable common area with cute furniture, there is a kitchen that one can use for basic prep, but Ludmil serves a very nice breakfast that also mixes in a selection of Bulgarian pastries and yogurt. The room itself was spotlessly clean with all the necessities, and very comfortable. The place is in a quiet area of town so there is absolutely no street noise or other disturbance at night, but it is just a few minutes walk from all the tourist areas and attractions. Highly recommend!

GGuest UserI missed my flight at sofia airport so had to book a hotel for one night. So I went for a mid range hotel. It was better than mid range. Lovely helpful staff on reception, an aceptable price with thier discount....paid 68 euros for a large kingsize bed with onsuite bathroom. Comfortable bed, fresh pillows (very snazzy cushions too) and a nice relaxing corner sofa, reasonable TV and every thing was realyl clean. Complimentary coffee and tea, which is not the norm in Bulgaria, nice and quiet, was lovely and warm. Actualyl a bit too warm and I couldnt turn the heating down so I had to sleep wit hte fridge open to cool off as aircon didnt work. THis was the only negative for me. They did an airport pickup, but not a drop off and this nearly stopped me booking, as they should have told me this at the begining, however they were saved by the fact the metro was 4 stops to the airport and cost me 1.60 leva, so about 70p. I picked up food from the little shops in the metro, as I hit a holiday so the restaurants close by were closed. A very lovely stay and Id go there again. AND they had these lovely drop lights near the bed as side lights, some veyr nice touches, clean crisp sheets, soft towels and nice soaps etc and they dont ask you to leave till 12 lunch time. GGuest UserPros: The hotel design is very modern and clean. The staff are nice and friendly and do everything they can to help you. This hotel is big on sustainability. They don't leave plastic bottles in your room. Instead, you have glass bottles that you can fill up everywhere in the hotel. Every floor has a drinking fountain where you can fill up your bottle.
The food was absolutely amazing. Breakfast is not a buffet. On weekdays, you have to choose between a Bulgarian or a French breakfast. At first, I was disappointed that they didn't have a simple option like an omelet; I went with the Bulgarian option. It was fantastic. Everything was fresh. On weekends, you only have an omelet option, which was also great. For dinner, I got Sea Bass and it was also great! I am fully satisfied with the food served at this hotel. The only criticism I can give is that the breakfast serving window is very small and late (8:30 am to 10:30 am if I remember correctly) and you have to wait for more than usual to get your food.
Cons: The rooms have tile floors, which look cold but are not since I believe they use floor heating. The problem is that they don't offer slippers, which I don't like, since the same tiles continue into the toilet. It doesn't feel clean.
They also don't offer toothbrushes which I would have really appreciated.
I had to unplug the fridge since the compressor made a lot of noise when turning off and on, and I'm a light sleeper.
Overall I would recommend this place if the location suits you, just bring your own slippers and enjoy the food!

GGuest UserThe Balkan is a old style hotel in the center of Sofia over a metro station and 1m from the pedestrian area. Nationa Gallery, Synagoga, Moskea are at walking distance. Hotel is not bad as itself if you like carpets and Impero style fornitures but without WIFI connection in the rooms on the last part of the corridors. Breakfast is huge and of good quality. The Waiters Mafia is dominating the floors and if they say ”No”... it's final. We asked for bathrobe for 4 days and was ”No”. We asked for shampoo and conditioner for 3 days and was ”No”. We had a coffee in room and the dirty cup stayed there for 3 days. All above despite the calls and attempts from the consierge desk to solve the issues. Minor issue: the Waiters Mafia is controlling the elevator also... many times the cleaning trailer was moved using the guest elevator (big) instead the service elevator (small).

Mmillion_million_trueThe transportation near the hotel is very convenient. It takes a few minutes to walk to the commercial street. There are also supermarkets nearby. It is very quiet in the residential area. The room is scented but strong. The facilities in the house are a bit old. There is a refrigerator but a bit noisy. The service attitude is very good. People are very friendly. If you have any problems, you can communicate well.

GGuest UserI'll start with the positive points first: - I'll start with the positive points first - The minibar and the drinks at the bar are cheap Now the negative points they are effecting mostly the rooms: - The carpet is dirty and the rooms stink. Most probably they never changed the carpet since the hotel was build - The air conditioning was installed later. The hose to dispose the water from the air conditioner goes through a hose into the bathroom and ends above the bathroom floor. this means that the bathroom is always flooded when the air conditioning is on. this is definitely not acceptable. - The room cannot be darkened because the fabric of the curtains is very very thin and translucent. As soon as the sun rises it is not possible to sleep. In my case it was around 05:30AM when the sun came up. This point bothered me the most because I didn't get enough sleep on my business trip. I have visited the hotel Hemus regularly since 2017 when I have not been able to get a room elsewhere. in 2019 they had done major renovations, but I still don't understand what exactly was improved. the points just mentioned above have not been resolved. only the tv was exchanged for a flat screen and the bracket for the old tube tv was removed. Maybe this was the reason of renovation. I hope that someone from the hotel will read this as a general overhaul is urgently needed. Especially with the carpet and the curtains. There's no point in choosing a hotel to relax after a long meeting day and can't even sleep because of the windows that can't be darkened or the smell of the carpet that has never been replaced.

GGuest UserThe Rila Hotel is an old hotel with old facilities, shoe box size elevators but in a very central part of the town near to everything. Our first night we stayed in a standard small room ( I think it cost $46 maybe $50 with taxes etc )that was not satisfactory. The next day for $10 - $12 per day upgrade we moved into a double size spacious/suite room with 2 balconies !! Very nice to sit out on the balcony with the afternoon setting sun and to wash out a few cloth items and let the sun dry them. Neither of the rooms had shower curtains in the bathrooms. When i enquired about this I was told this was done because of covid. Hhmmm not sure how a shower curtain has any bearing on covid ? We stayed a total of 7 nights and only once, after I called down to the front desk, did a chamer maid come up and take out the garbage and change the towels. To be fair my girlfriend has a habit of spreading all her things all over the 2 rooms so we hesitated to make a fuss. I can imagine a maid being shocked to walk in and not know what to do in all the mess. Breakfast cost extra and was only ok but enough to start the day. There was a large flat screen TV which we never turned on, there was no safe deposit box in the room but we were able to leave our valuables downstairs at the front desk. There are other hotels also nearby that are probably more renovated and modern and most likely cost a little more. On our next trip we most likely will see about other options. The staff was friendly and helpful. I guess it depends on what your expectations are but for us it worked.

GGuest UserWe stayed here for a couple nights whilst exploring Sofia. This a perfect and cute little hotel, purely somewhere to sleep for the night. If you want fancy, stay in the centre. But what do you need on a city break? You’re exploring the whole time! It’s simple and effective and budget friendly, it was half the price of the flights and less than our airport parking! (Paid £50 for two nights). Sofia is very cheap to eat and drink so you just can’t go wrong. The staff were friendly on arrival and check out, and they let us keep our bags after check out when we had a late flight. Not too far from the centre, we walked the first day but after realising it’s £2 for all day on the metro, we stuck to the metro. 30 minutes walking, or maybe 6 minutes by metro. The airport is about half an hour away on the metro and no issues getting there or back. Smooth transport system! There’s a supermarket 3 minutes away which is handy for water and snacks. If walking at night, I will say stick to the main road side, as the other side of the hotel feels a little unsafe and dark. The rooms are small but practical, bathroom is a little smaller than I expected but it still worked. My only issue is I would say the room could of been cleaner when we checked in. I had to clean the toilet and sink with sanitiser as it was a little dirty. Take flip flops for showering as you are very close to the toilet when you shower and very close to the shower when you use the toilet. Shower gel provided smelt lovely and the hand sanitiser at reception! We had a brilliant time and would highly recommend the hotel and stay again should we ever take another trip to Sofia.

GGuest UserGood location not far from all the activities and to the public transport. Walking distance to Nevresky Cathedral and St Andrew Russian Style Church with onion domes. Friendly staff probably family owned but housekeepers do not communicate in English. Good breakfast and varied. Big room with terrace but could not manage to operate the AC .
