River House Inn

Simply a fantastic stay. My husband and I were traveling through, and scheduled one night. Joe, a wonderful host, greeted us upon arrival. He showed us around the home. You can see the love and care that has been placed into the restoration. Clean and tastefully appointed. Told us about the property and explained some of the details of the restoration. I’m an interior designer and history buff, so I was instantly hooked. The breakfast was perfect. Joe had prepared coffee, orange juice, waffles, eggs, bacon, sausage, and fruit salad for us. All delicious!! Upon placing our reservation, the form asked about dietary restrictions. I’m extremely gluten sensitive, but not celiac. Lisa shortly reached out to clarify my sensitivity level, which was extremely kind and thoughtful. This is a beautiful home and surrounding property, no need to second guess. Book a stay.

Loved it, very relaxing. Joe Marx was a fantastic host and makes a great breakfast. Had a great time out by the pool. Wish I had brought my fishing pole with the river running right beside the property in the back. The property was clean and the grass was cut nice all the way to the river. The room was clean and the bed was awesome....really enjoyed the say.

We needed a place to stay on our way back from OBX and were thrilled to find the River House Inn. Lilly and the full staff were very pleasant and helpful with anything we needed to make our short stay one we wished we had more time to extend. The house is very charming and the pool area was a real treat. From the complimentary coffee, tea, water, wine, and delicious breakfast to the very clean and comfortable room, we were very happy to have stayed here. The area was also quiet and charming with shops and dining within walking distance from the inn. We hope to return for an extended stay.

Rick and Dwayne run a wonderful B&B and they are fantastic hosts. We enjoyed speaking with both of them and getting dining tips as well. They serve a full breakfast - fruit, juice, waffles, has browns, and eggs cooked to order - Rick's waffles are amazing. We own our kayaks and for both of our visits, Rick rode with us to a kayak put-in at Porters Crossing and drove our car back to their property so that we didn't have to paddle back to the put-in and load our car again. We paddled about 5.5 miles from Porters Crossing to River House and left our kayaks at the bottom of their hill so we could go out again later. The rooms are very comfortable - we had a king bed and our friends had a queen bed. The swimming pool is heated and very relaxing after a day of paddling. We also drove to the beach at Assateague National Park - I think it was about 25 minutes or so. We ate dinner in Berlin one evening. I highly recommend staying here - lots of value for what you pay and a very nice time.
