A great pub hotel located in a beautiful area of North Yorkshire.
I would definitely recommend to friends and family. The best Full English Breakfast of our trip, which included 8 hotels around the country.

My wife and I wanted to get away for a few days, we thought about London but the cost was too high …I’ve always preferred the North of England anyway. We booked for a night with a couple of days notice as the pub had everything we wanted and the price was very reasonable. The staff are really friendly and check-in was easy, followed by a couple of well kept ales in the courtyard. Our room was off the courtyard, really clean and comfortable. As we hadn’t eaten during the day we had a meal in the pub. The pie of the day and burger were, great. Definitely plate envy looking at my wife’s burger. Food was home cooked and it shows, very very tasty. A great list of puddings too! The young lass on the bar was great even though she was irking front of house on her own, nothing was too much trouble. The included breakfast was great, top notch. Just a shame they were out of black pudding but you can’t have it all. I’m disappointed that we were only there for the night but it was great to get away. If we’re ever back in the area I’d definitely stay again.

Absolutely mortified, paid for two nights, arrived the Friday night, we went out for the day in our camper on the Saturday in Masham! (Lovely day) To come back to find someone had parked their camper right next to our drive away awning, respectfully went to the pub to explain that someone had parked, so we couldn’t get our camper back in our space! They said they don’t reserve places, but were happy to take payment for two nights, basically threw away all responsibility to us and we would have to move to another spot, with no EHU! The way it was dealt with was wrong, the people in the other camper were also rude and no respect for other campers! We were really enjoying our time there until this situation! We had planned for 6 adults to eat and have drinks that night in that castle inn, but ended up going to the Buck Inn 5 minutes up the road had wonderful food, drinks with a great atmosphere and wonderful hospitality!

We were a party of 6 who stayed overnight as part of a longer motorcycle tour. Our 5 quiet well decorated and appointed rooms were located across the courtyard and guaranteed a good night’s sleep. That evening the pub was busy with both visitors and locals. However, that did not affect the friendly and attentive service. Suffice to say we all enjoyed the meal and appreciated how hard the owners servers and kitchen worked. On the Sunday morning the chef was kind enough to open early and offer a full cooked menu. Prices we thought very reasonable and the location is perfect for visitors who would enjoy walking in the local area. A very enjoyable experience.

Walked around the local fields with dogs before arriving at The Castle Arms. We had pre-booked for Sunday lunch as we had two dogs and a baby under one year old. The pub has limited large tables in the areas that accommodate dogs. Food is served 12-5pm on Sunday. Varied menu selection; not just meat; roasties and veg. So we had two roast beef that came with Yorkshire pud; mash; roast potatoes; stuffing; broccoli, glazed carrots and parsnips. All washed down with a flavoursome gravy. Others had house burger with bacon and cheese with lovely crispy chips. Sweets to follow included berry cheese cake; lemon and meringue pie and sticky toffee pudding. Good service and beer / drinks delivered to the table. All in all we couldn't have asked for more; except a warmer day. So thank you to Penny, Ade and chef Ollie.
