Wingate by Wyndham Southport

A pleasant place to stay, and clean. The staff were friendly and the price of the room was good also.They offer continental breakfast which is also cool we just did not get a chance to take advantage of everything with only a short stay. Would stay here again.

This was the dirtiest wingate hotel I've ever stayed in. Make sure you take cleaning supplies (I always do) because you will need them. I was afraid to sit on the couch it was so nasty. First room we were sent to had blood on the mattress pad and on the door of the bathroom. Went to the manager and they changed our room no questions asked but they were talking about us after. The bathtub had hair all in it and what looked like rust in the bottom of it. I was afraid to touch anything in the tub after spraying with disinfectant I went to Walgreens and bought. The puttying job they did to fix a hole in the wall was hilarious. I cleaned the dried putty off the dresser when doing the initial cleaning before I found the blood. Breakfast is a joke. It's sausage links and egg Pattie's wrapped in baggies you can put in the microwave and frozen sausage biscuits which we were t going to eat regardless because of how unsure we were of the cleanliness of the food prep and storage areas. I really feel the problem is poor or low staffing here but it's no reason to talk about guests and pretty much say they weren't going to clean the room after we were in it. Picture shows putty on the dresser I cleaned off and my husband taking the picture because he didn't think his friends would believe him if he just showed them the picture. I wasn't upset about the blood on the door I was just going to clean it but the blood on the mattress pad that you had to see if you changed the sheets was just too much.

My stay was nice.

Very convenient to Oak Island Beach and to downtown Southport.

property needs an update- website advertised a pool and spa, but there was no spa and pool was not open-hotel had signage for pool and spa but I was told spa had been taken out several years ago and it was expensive to change signage so they covered with white paper after I arrived-breakfast was very sparse

i coudnt use the pool i was under construction but other than that everything looks fine.
