Avid Hotel Harrisburg NE - Hershey Area

Pros: - Friendly, nice front desk staff who seemed like they wanted to help - Bed was comfortable and room was dark - Good location near Hershey Park! Cons: - No one was at the desk when we arrived. We waited ~10 mins for someone to come. - Breakfast is complimentary but our first morning (granted it was Memorial Day weekend) was insane-- they ran out of oatmeal, spoons, forks... guests were scraping the bottom of the egg tray....there was no place to sit... - Tons of kids running up and down the hallway woke us up - Biggest con was Housekeeping: We came home with 2 tired kids after a long day at Hershey Park and our room wasn't cleaned. They said some guests don't want their room cleaned/beds "made up" but they forgot to ask us. We then had to wait for clean towels..... And the second night around 9pm, there were two men hanging out in the hallway near a linen cart swearing and talking loudly. They ended up being the housekeeping people but weren't wearing uniforms or anything to identify them as Avid employees (and it was 9pm!). I double-locked the door. Suggestions to Avid Hotel: Have the housekeeping automatically clean every room each day unless the guest specifies otherwise. And have housekeeping wear a nametag or Avid shirt, and ideally have rooms be cleaned during daylight hours. Finally, when the hotel is very full, ideally try to have more staff/ food those days.

We arrived at 3pm and shortly after arrival the pounding on there ceiling was continuous, I thought maybe there was a fight then later a ball, then stomping. Later the yelling of preteen children was just ridiculous. I complain 3 times with no success, then at 9:30pm I yelled at the kids to stop this nonsense with no success. I went to the office again and complained with no success. I then received phone call from one of the kids harassing me and I again reported this to the manager. He said what room was it dialed from, I said I don't know, still no success from the management. Finally at 9:45pm my elderly wife and I packed everything up and loaded the car to leave and I went to the desk again and gave the card keys back and wanted a refund and the $25 safely refund. He said to call Travelocity for the room refund and the $25 will be3e refunded tomorrow morning. This was an unbearable room rental adjust a terrible place. IU am elderly with many medical conditions and decided to drive home all night approximately 400 miles to get away from this place. I arrived home at 4:00am and both my wife and I were quite ill and feeling terrible. I want the room refund from Travelocity NOW and maybe compensation for recommending this horrible place!!!

Hotel was only open for ~1.5 months when we stayed. Still had the "new car" smell to it. Very spartan, but efficient hotel. No carpet in the room which was great, plenty of hooks for hanging up coats, towels, etc. Simple breakfast, but the oatmeal and on demand coffee was very good. Only complaints: My shower was lukewarm and started to get cold, which was surprising considering there were not that many others staying there. There was a big, gnarly hair on the shower floor from a previous person.
