Chettinad mansion combines old world charm with magical service . We felt completely at home . Mr Gopakumar and his team took good care of us . He helped us chalk out an itinerary for our two day stay and we were able to cover most of Chettinaad. If the management restores it to its former glory , it will definitely be one of the best properties in Chettinaad

Stayed for 3 nights. Wonderful heritage property. A bit run down but they have tried to do their best to maintain the property as best as they can. In the heritage part. Rooms are decent but a bit tight on space. Breakfast was pretty monotonous. No footwear allowed past main door. Staff are always willing to help. Gopakumar the GM is always willing to give you tips on places to visit etc. Paid around 10k per night.

Stayed here for one night as part of an Intrepid Travel Tour of South India. Fascinating to see all the old the mansions in the village in various condition. Chettinadu Mansion is delightfully restored. Rooms more on the basic side but very comfortable with large bathroom. The set dinner and breakfast both excellent and the staff lovely. A great experience.

I came for lunch, a stop on my way to Madurai from Thanjavur. It was an excellent choice. I arrived just past 12:30pm, and the set lunch as about to start. It was one of my best meals in India, and the continue to serve as much as you desire. I contacted the hotel via e-mail for my reservation (the woman in the dining hall remembered my message). I would recommend a reservation, as the hall quickly filled up with a large group (I and an Indian couple were the other clients that day). Some might say that it is 'for tourists', but that is what we all were, that day. Food was good; ambience even better. Combined with a stop at the Sri Handloom center, made a great day.

What an amazing looking mansions. Lovely architecture, beautiful exteriors and classy interiors. A trip to these mansions take you to a different world of lifestyle. Had lunch at Wadheyar house. Delicious home cooked spread done in chettinad style of cooking. Reasonably priced and lovingly served. An enjoyable half a day trip.

The peaceful surroundings appeal to those seeking a quiet retreat, but might feel isolating for others. DINE + DRINK: The in-house restaurant serves traditional Chettinad cuisine, known for its bold flavors and spices. The chef whips up authentic local dishes and home-style cooking. Vegetarian options are available, but the menu variety might be limited for extended stays. There's no bar on-site, and alcohol availability may be restricted due to local regulations. ROOM: We stayed in Room MEENAL, so this review is based on that; SIZE: Spacious enough for 2 adults and simple baggage; VIEW: There is No view as the room did not have very many windows; AIR-CON: Perfectly functioning cooler that helped in setting the perfect room temperature; BED: Comfortable bed that played the expected part of putting us to sleep; BATHROOM:Very dated and old world bathroom with a Stand-in shower; TOILETRIES: Super Random Quality Toiletries, bring your own! FACILITIES: No Gym or pool on site, pure rural Chill! SERVICE: Friendly staff that took care of all our needs with a smile and made us feel pampered and well taken care of. Special Shout-out to LALITH and RAJKUMAR who hosted us for dinner and drinks wonderfully! HOW WIRED YOU WILL BE: Free Wi-Fi that works well all over the property, and the speed is OK! NO TV in the room!

It's not worth the price , facility is not good , rooms are having damp smell . There was electricity cut in night ,couldn't sleep at all. Bathroom is big in space but no proper shower or light inside . Overall it's super costly compare to price charged.

The hotel is located in a hundred-year-old building built with great opulence by a local businessman made good using expensive imported materials - wood, tiles, marble etc. Room was very comfortable and bathroom facilities clean though a little rudimentary. Generous portions of tasty food.
