We had a most memorable stay at the Saratha Vilas Palace hotel in Chettinad , India in March 2025. The hosts and French Architect duo owners of the hotel have amazingly restored this Chettinad palace and the overall experience was extremely authentic , personal and enjoyable . We celebrated my wife’s birthday during the stay and the staff went beyond their time to make her day very special . Highly recommended for those who prefer a quiet and authentic Chettinad experience with awesome local cuisine !

This hotel is a wonderfully renovated Chettinad mansion. The restaurant has excellent food (we had both breakfast and dinner). The staff is great too. There is a pool at the back, to unwind after a day long visit. The hotel is well located to visit the other mansions in the region. I definitely recommend this hotel.

sublime maison ,havre de paix décorée avec goût par 2 architectes ,cela nous plonge à la grande époque de Chettinad ,on aimerait pouvoir fermer les yeux et assister à la vie de ces marchands..... Tout est parfait , le personnel très agréable ,très bonne cuisine

Magnifique maison chettiar restaurée dans les règles de l'art et décorée de façon sublime par les 2 propriétaires férus d'art... un régal pour les yeux ! Le personnel est très souriant et serviable. Les chambres spacieuses, tout est bien pensé, pratique et joliment décoré. La cuisine est délicieuse ! Enfin une boutique propose de beaux produits de qualité. A ne pas manquer en visitant le Chettinad !

Palais réhabilité avec un grand savoir faire et un souci du détail qui se voit aussi bien dans les finitions que dans la décoration. Qualité de l'accueil et personnel très professionnel. Dans la chambre : Literie confortable et draps "craquants". Climatisation et ventilation silencieuses. Piscine au sel, très agréable et suffisamment grande. Je recommande de tester un massage. Cuisine de grande qualité, servie dans une cour intérieure. Petit déjeuner avec fruits frais, yaourt maison, toasts.Des oeufs sont également proposés.

Très belle rénovation de cette demeure typique. Merveilleuse expérience dans cette chambre immense et très propre. Salle de bain également rénovée et en très bon état (rare en Inde ). Les propriétaires sont deux française et ça se sent dans le Managment. Personnel attentif , très gentil. Sachez tout de même qu’il n’y a rien aux alentours. Donc plus ou moins contraint de dîner à l’hôtel. Pas mauvais mais un peu fade. Calme absolu. En tout une très belle découverte.

Un meraviglioso palazzo storico restaurato in modo eccellente. Entrando sembra di fare un tuffo nel passato, tutto curato nei minimi particolari, la pulizia impeccabile. La camera spaziosa, bella e confortevole. Il ristorante ottimo. Bellissima la piscina immersa in un giardino rilassante. Lo staff gentile e disponibile. Abbiamo trovato una piacevole ed importante attenzione allo spreco alimentare e alla sostenibilità ambientale. Impossibile trovare un difetto, tutto estremamente perfetto! Peccato esserci fermati una sola notte. Se siete in zona non perdetevi questo posto da sogno.

It's basically like sleeping in a museum. The hotel is made from a typical Chettinad mansion and respects its structure. The restoration is perfect and the furnishings refined and elegant. You are greeted by the very kind French owner. The room is very large and comfortable. The bathroom is large and with separate toilet (French style). There's a very nice little shop. The staff is friendly, helpful and very attentive. The wifi works well. We spent the evening of 31 December here dining with the owners by the pool. Delicious people with eclectic and interesting conversation. Excellent cuisine (French fusion). Before dinner there was a show of traditional songs and dances from South India, very interesting and very good dancer. Excellent breakfast, practically cooked at the moment.
