Let’s begin with arriving to the hotel… no help with the luggage, dismissive attitude from the front desk (kind of a joke to call that front desk, since there is only one person to take care of all). After completing the checkin we were assigned the rooms. That was the exact moment we understood that having expectations from here was a mistake. The card keys are numbered which shows that there is no such a thing as multiple and unique key but rather a single plastic card. Another sign that this was NOT 5 star quality. When we entered the room, we noticed that the walls were stained, they had marks all over (lugagge or other) but then came the worst part, the blanket had yellow miscellaneous stains thus making the whole idea to sleep there disgusting. Another of the rooms booked had chipped celling paint. In our room, the cover to the base of the hanging lamp was midway towards the lamp rather than attached to the celling plate, etc.etc.etc. As you can imagine, we rapidly started to find another place to spend the 4 days we're spending in Siracusa, since we decided that we were not staying here. As we came down, the front desk person was startled that we were leaving. I explained the lamp part as an example and he proudly said that it has been like that for the last ten years and it was very secure; as for the stains, he adamantly explained to me that nobody else has complained about it and that what we were seeing was clearly "not there". As I write this review, the hotel is disputing that they will charge the full amount of the stay vs. my proposal to pay only one night. They argue that we did not explain in detail why we were leaving (another example of their abominable customer service). I hope that this explanation is sufficient for them. This is a property that, if anything, is barely three stars.
