Happy Elephant Bungalows

We loved these basic bungalows on the hill above the main beach. The friendly staff were so helpful from the get-go carrying our luggage upto no.6 (2nd from the top) & immediately offering to swap us into a lower bungalow when one was vacated. The best about no.6 were the wifi and the view from the hammock but no.3 (when we moved) had more furniture, better water-pressure, a great shower (it was replaced as soon as a problem was reported) and best of all... not so far or steep to access.

Staff were super friendly, room was a bit small but nice and clean. They clean rooms every day. Not far from the village so convenient to get whatever you want.

Don't expect much from this accommodation except a nice shower. The staff are welcoming. The rooms are clean but very basic. Discount vouchers are given to guests for local restaurants. It is located a short walk from the main pier in the village.

Budget rooms, good location - walking distance to town. Non existent wifi - wouldn’t stay too long.

Would definitely avoid; there are much better options on the island. We only stayed one night, possibly it’s a grower, but I doubt it. Rude reception and the guy was trying to sell us on 10% discounts at local restaurants. Very odd. It’s cheap, I guess. Note: you must check out by 9am. Others: darkness in the evening, no lights in public area, no shampoo.

The owner was very nice and friendly. The location isn’t ideal especially if you are carrying a suitcase. You need to go uphill which is exhausting. Stairs are very uncomfortable and i hurt my leg while carrying down my suitcase from the second floor. No antenna there and the wifi was almost non existent. But it was cheap. One thing I can’t compromise with the money is the dirty bedding. The pillowcases smelled like sweat and we had to cover them with towels.
