Our family has stayed here as we visit our cousins in the next town. The room was adequate but the towels did not look fresh. They were different colors and textures. The desk clerk’s manner was appalling. She did not give one hint of hospitality. I thought maybe I was checking in to a correctional facility or a bad DMV. We later learned that she is the manager. The owners need to address the protocol of welcoming guests. The other reception people were pleasant. Breakfast was very underwhelming. Would we stay here again? Yes.

Rooms were clean. The bedding definitely need updated. Sheets were so thin I could see through them & blanket was stiff and scratchy. The breakfast is toast and cold cereal.

The woman who runs/owns this place is a total space cadet. She overcharged me. My reservation clearly states $108.19 with tax and she charged me $110.77. I asked for a receipt at checkout and she didn’t know how to print one so all I got was the room rate before taxes.
The person staying with me left her personal pillow that has a silk pillow case on it. She called the hotel right away and said that we would be back to get it after we attended a funeral. The lady said we would be charged another night if we left a suitcase in the room. Uh we clearly said it was a PERSONAL PILLOW!! She finally seemed to understand and said she would have it at the front desk. When we got there, she had it in her own chair and was using it. She didn't seem to remember the call saying we would be back. She had to be directed to give the pillow back. She appeared unclean and unkempt so needless to say, the pillow case MUST be washed before use.
The beds are extremely uncomfortable and the springs are noisy. Will not stay here ever again. We will drive an extra 20-30 minutes to stay somewhere else.

Being that this place is in Iowa in February it was freezing. After we checked in and opening our room the heat was completely off and it was FREEZING in there. If I check into a hotel I expect to be able to actually be able to enjoy that room right away without waiting for the room to warm. It was so cold we left and drove around and came back. We have stayed here for years and have never had this issue. If someone is checking in be kind and turn on the heat so the room is ready.

It is the nicest hotel in town, and the nearest large town where accommodations like this is at least 20 miles away making it the best local accommodation available.
