I spent the first 4 nights of my honeymoon at this hotel and it was trully amazing! At check-in we were greeted with a shoulder massage and the most warmest of welcomes, we then were shown our water villa which was huuuge. The room was finished to a very high standard and we even welcomed the ‘Marshall’ Bluetooth speaker for us to play our Spotify tunes on. The only item lacking in our room would have been a coffee machine of some sort (Nespresso?). I had researched this hotel extensively before arriving, but I didn’t quite appreciate just how beautiful its setting and location is. The wildlife on show is so unique, from the peacocks, kingfishers, crocodiles, monkeys, even distant sounds of elephants. Unless I go on an African safari I doubt I will stay at such a unique hotel as this. The food was fantastic, I was there on half board basis and it was 5-course dinners each evening. My only suggestion would be to chill the wine bottles a bit more as we did have a few bottles of white wine that were not the coldest. The staff were sooo friendly, you can tell they have been trained to the highest standard (gardeners stopped and got off their bikes as we passed them, reception staff stood up to greet us as we passed them too). Special mention to our butler ‘Damit’ who was so helpful to us, and drove us to and from dinner when it rained! If looking for a hotel in Sigiriya area, whilst this hotel might be expensive, it does not disappoint and I can’t recommend it enough!
