The Kingswood Hotel

The facts of my stay - Checked in to a room with no opening window and no fan. Given a new room. You can only feel the fan if you are 1 foot in front of it. It’s absolutely pointless. TV wasn’t tuned in. Took best part of an hour to sort out. Second night TV once again not tuned in but if you use triple figures and wait ten minutes it warms up (I only wanted BBC2 - nothing too ‘out there’) The lift has a sign on “please don’t use after 10pm” On the plus side Well meaning people / staff They have chargers if you get stuck It’s absolutely not a hotel that is right for me. I stayed here because Duke’s was full. I wanted a room only rate - they only do a rate including breakfast but that’s probably quite normal for a leisure clientele It’s a nice looking place with nice staff but it just didn’t feel relaxing or functional for my needs. And my needs were basic to be fair.

This is a very nice hotel and located on the seafront with private parking The rooms are very good and the breakfast is superb The staff are friendly and knowledgeable and go out of their way to help The town is located within a minutes walk Highly recomended

SUPERB I don’t normally do reviews. However The Kingswood fully deserves this. Had a long weekend here. An absolutely amazing hotel right on the seafront of Sidmouth. Asked for a room with seaview and we got it. Room was perfectly sized for us. Plenty of space so it didn’t feel like you were crammed in like some places can be. Bathroom was good size with walk in shower. Left window open all the time so we could listen to the waves, very relaxing and fully recharged the batteries. Food was superb. Arrived on the Friday and had an evening meal. Looked a bit pricey but the quality of the pasta dish I had, and the turkey medallion my wife had quickly made it worthwhile. Same as the Sunday evening meal. We both had the chicken and it was so good I thought about ordering it again! Breakfasts were more than adequate with plenty of choices. Every member of staff we met was very friendly and more than helpful. They always had time to speak to all the guests and make sure everything was ok for them. Fully recommend a stay. Will definitely return here.

Overall another lovely stay at The Kingswood. The lounge is lovely, the quiz a bonus and staff all delightful - special shoutout to Steve who is an asset all round. Lots of personal attention including remembering our son’s name. Breakfast is great quality and tasty with good choice. Room was a bit warm despite radiators being off and there’s no aircon. Windows do open but it can be noisy if you look out onto the car park. A rather noisy rattly fan started up each morning at 7 at the back of the property - I think the kitchen extractor. Didn’t bother us as we are up by then but if you like a lie in it was probably loud enough to wake you. The hotel couldn’t be more convenient for the seafront and town centre, with everywhere easily walkable from it. Free parking is available if you ask early enough.

Amazing location and the sea facing balcony really enhanced the whole experience.

The Kingswood Hotel is a right on the seafront in Sidmouth. The hotel is welcoming with a light and airy dining room and bar and lounge area with board games, overlooking the beach. The staff were polite, welcoming and helpful. I stayed here on a business trip and ate breakfast here, but no other meals. The breakfast was delicious with a large choice of both cooked items from the menu, but also an extensive breakfast buffet including items such as berry compote, fruit salad, cereal and yogurt and juices. I had a comfortable and enjoyable stay and would definitely like to stay here again, when in Sidmouth.
