The Mount Pleasant Hotel

This hotel is well positioned for a short walk into Sidmouth taking about 10 minutes especially with the free parking at the front of the hotel. Dinner on the evening here was exceptional with all the food freshly cooked and a wide choice of dishes. It was our Wedding Anniversary and the hotel very kindly provided prosecco with our evening meal. Our table overlooked the garden which was a good place to eat . The breakfast the following morning was also delicious with a wide choice of dishes to have. The service was immaculate and friendly, We would definitely recommend this hotel and would stay again.

We booked this at very short notice as we needed to be at a funeral in Exeter, 200 miles from our home. From the very outset the owner could not have been more helpful and moved his own car to free up space in the car park for us. It is a very well run hotel, the staff in the dining room, though young, are well trained and attentive. During Covid they introduced indicating food choice for dinner at breakfast and they have retained it. Despite my initial reservation it worked really well. At every meal, we were there two days, each meal was really hot when it reached the table. The front and the high street are in easy walking distance from the hotel and the town has a great deal going for it. The owner deserves the credit for running a most comfortable efficient hotel.

Really friendly hotel staff and it was a pleasure to stay there. Nicely furnished very pleasant gardens, and good breakfast choices.

Jonty the hotel owner is a fantastic host, Aga his deputy is also great. They go out of their way to make each person’s stay as wonderful as can be giving advice on meal choices, where to visit round and about and any queries you have. The deluxe double we booked was a really lovely room, bathroom very clean and modern. Lovely gardens and outdoor furniture to use in the sunshine. Lounge is well appointed. Only a few minutes walk to the centre of Sidmouth, cinema less than a 5 minute walk. I cannot find any fault with this hotel. We have just returned from a wonderful stay here last week. Highly recommended, a Regency jewel in Sidmouth.

It is wonderful and so rare when you go to a hotel and your experience exceeds all you thought it would be. We have just spent the loveliest weekend at this hotel. We booked through a third party who were responsible for a hiccup over our first evening meal. TIP - always confirm a day in advance with any hotel booked through a third party to make sure the hotel have the same details as you have. Even though the hiccup was no fault of the hotel we cannot commend highly enough how the hotel managed the situation and went above and beyond to make sure we had a fabulous stay. This is a hotel with history . It is well situated and has a beautiful front lawn and gardens. The hotel itself is super clean , downstairs has a very calm older elegant style … dining tables with white linen cloths and gentle music playing as you dine looking out to the garden. …but it is warm and welcoming. The food - what can we say. It is just wonderful. Cooked to order - and just lovely. The rooms have been modernised and have everything you need. What sets this hotel head and shoulders apart is the wonderful staff - we have never had such wonderful , friendly and professional service. They could not do enough for us. If you are looking at booking a hotel in Sidmouth this is a precious gem. We will definitely be back.

Charming building, excellent staff - friendly, helpful, cheerful - and like the name, pleasant. Enjoyable stay. And the hot water is HOT.
