I've visited Sibson Hotel before and loved it, but since then there have been several changes, most notable is the change of ownership. Apparently the new owner has several factories and an award winning pie in his portfolio, but success there does not mean success in the hospitality industry. We arrived on Friday afternoon and were warmly greeted by Brett. Having accessed the room, there was an odd musty smell which we put down to a very old building with probably no damp course and the heating only just on. Happy to say the smell did abate. We wanted a freshen up and discovered 2 hand towels, but no bath towels. Brett quickly rectified this, but it was obvious that housekeeping hadn't rechecked the room since cleaning from the last occupant as there were several cobwebs and flies about. We also had an issue on the following day, our dirty mugs were left waiting to be collected by housekeeping when they replenished the complimentary tea and coffee sachets, but left no fresh ones. Sam quickly rectified this, but it was such a simple simple small thing which makes me question the quantity of the housekeeping team. Dinner was excellent, although the menu was limited in choice, the aforementioned pies, plus burgers, fishcakes, salads etc. Kris looked after us at dinner both nights and was rushed off his feet as the restaurant was quite busy. He was extremely friendly and we had a good banter about the Malteser cheesecake (good, but not as good as mine!) The bed was comfortable, and we slept well, we could hear the A1 traffic, as we had the window open, but it's unavoidable as the hotel is so near the road. Can't understand people who moan about this! You can't plonk the hotel in the next field!! The cooked breakfast was excellent, plenty of toast, yoghurt etc to accompany it. But there was one thing that really p*****d me off, and that was a hotel guest who seemed to think the hotel was his "home from home" He helped himself from the bar ( he did pay for the drinks, but because there was only one member of staff and they were stretched so thinly there was often no one on the bar) and entered the kitchen during service with his tables used dirty plates etc. In my professional life these are no no's due to licensing laws, hygiene laws and insurance. We thought he was the owner! I really enjoyed my stay, the staff were helpful and friendly, and keen to put things right where they could, and the food excellent, but there is a lack of overall senior management presence, which, I believe would tighten up the areas of slack, such as the housekeeping and maintenance.

The fact that it is claimed to be the No 1 hotel in the Peterborough area suggests I may not have been staying at the same place as other reviewers. The room was rundown and cold. Water in bathroom was lukewarm, preventing me showering. The wet radiator was not on and there were no instructions as how to operate the electric one. There was no land-line, and cell phone signal non-existent. There was also no landline in reception. Can you imagine a hotel with no landline? The food in the restaurant was not fine-dining, it was not gastro-pub, it was not even good pub food. It was poor. I ordered the pie and mash. It came with chips. I was not given a choice. The prawn cocktail was off. Can you imagine? Breakfast was even poorer. First of all, the plates were stone cold. There was no bacon. Quite the strangest sausage I have ever eaten. But by far the worst experience was the evening before when the bar closed at 10pm. 10pm on a Saturday night? And we could not even remain in the bar as the whole building was locked up and we had to return to our respective bedrooms. We were told this ruling had been made by the hotel's owners. Outrageous! The beer choice was awful with only a couple of choices. On the plus side: the staff were friendly and helpful - if not overworked. In conclusion, this hotel should not belong in the hospitality industry. It is just awful and overpriced , for what it is.

The biggest disappointment at this establishment is : breakfast 07:30hr for 1 hour until 08:30hr And the place is locked up at 21:30hrs so if you eat out at another pub you cannot get a late drink once back at The Sibson Inn. Shame, however Bret was a lovely member of staff who helped us find another superb eating place. Thank you Bret.

Excellent hotel food was amazing the chef Pete has an eye for detail. Staff Kris was friendly and welcoming and very hard working for the evening and Diane attentive during breakfast. Rooms are comfortable clean and warm. Would highly recommend this hotel as nothing is too much trouble.

A fantastic hotel slap bang on the A1. The Sibson Inn Hotel is a converted 17th century farm, and they've done a bang up job in changing it to a nice hotel with restaurant and bar, yet managed to keep the classic feel and charm. The location is super convenient if you're travelling and need a rest stop, or simply if you want to get away for a night with your family. The hosts - Kris and Diane - are super friendly and accommodating, and the hotel itself is clean and welcoming. The food was excellent, and nothing is too much trouble if you need an menu item adjusting a little. Overall, a hidden gem of a hotel just outside Peterborough which is perfect no matter the occasion. From what I saw, the large facilities for events such as weddings look awesome too. Recommended!

We visited the Inn for the first time on Saturday due to the local floods and we received such a friendly welcome. Food was good and accommodation clean and comfortable. The EV charger was an added bonus. But what impressed us most was the way the staff looked after us and, when we needed to stay for another 2 nights midweek, we were greeted like old friends despite it being a busy Valentines night! We will definitely be visiting again!

What an amazing visit. 5 of us went to The Sibson Inn Hotel for a friend's get together including drinks and a meal at this lovely hotel. The staff were welcoming and friendly. A special mention to Gabrielle who was amazing. So friendly and made us feel so welcome. A lovely atmosphere and delicious food. The bedrooms are really nice and comfortable. We will definitely be returning soon Lynne x

Stayed just the night for an early start the next day. We didn’t arrive until after eight pm but the host made sure we were made welcome. He had arranged for the chef to stay til we arrived so the 5 of us could have a meal. The meal & breakfast next day were great. The hotel is very oldy Worldy with a decent bar. The room was good , one double & a single. The bathroom with a large tub is just off the bedroom. Bedroom had a wardrobe, 3 sets of drawers, air dryer, tv & looks out onto open fields at the back & courtyard to the front. The hotel is not glamorous, in need of a little tidying up in places but very homely with great staff. We did have one issue, the double bed duvet had a large stain, not good really. Too late when we arrived had our meal & a few drinks to get it changed but not a massive problem as we just didn’t use it as the weather was quite warm. Receptionist next day couldn’t understand how housekeeping had missed it, but they obviously did. Without the stain I would have rated the place higher. The cost of the room was very good value, the food home cooked & delicious. Would I recommend the place, yes.
