A truly wonderful hotel.
With only 9 rooms, the staff focuses on making every guest experience exceptional.
The location is great, central enough to explore the Island and come back too every day. While the view from, and upon exiting, your room will take your breath away every single time.
All of the accommodations are top notch, the bed was supremely comfortable and even the linens and towels had a plush feeling.
Breakfast options can be slightly redundant but the quality and freshness of the ingredients, along homemade jam and juice, as well as a flexibility to switch things up on the menu, more than make up for it.
We the hotel restaurant is excellent for dinner as well. So much so that we ended up defaulting to it more than once during our stay.
We also appreciated small details like the phone they provided upon check-in that followed us everywhere on the island for spur of the moment suggestions and reservations through the hotel!
All in all, highly recommended, my wife and I know we’ll be back!

Great location with a lot of potential, but still a lot to improve!! 1 - Our stay was 3 nights and none of the days were cleaned, we only received new towels because we asked for them at reception, there are no amenities, shampoo, shower gel, we had to buy them because we hadn't taken them on the flight; 2 - On the day of check out, they woke us up before 8:30 am to find out what time we were leaving, when check out was until 11 am; 3 - Shortly afterwards we heard the sound of the door opening and when we checked, it was already the next guest who had been given an early check in, we were all amazed at the situation... 4 - The reception is closed on holidays and weekends , so we only had contact with someone for 1 day throughout our stay!

My family and I really enjoyed our stay in a one bedroom apartment. It was clean, comfortable, fully-equipped and had ample room for a family of 4. The grounds of the hotel are absolutely stunning - full of beautiful flowers and plants. My teenage boys really enjoyed using the hot tub, pool, sauna and gym. The hotel is centrally located on the island making it very easy to access most of the major sites and only a 10 minute drive to downtown Ponta Delgada. The owner of the hotel was very friendly and accommodating during our stay. We will definitely stay here again!

Wonderful place. Gorgeous huge rooms with fabulous views of ocean and nearby church. Kind and helpful staff from front desk to housekeeping. We arrived at 8 am as had early flight in. They directed us to breakfast and had a room available immediately after. Very thoughtful. The breakfast was wonderful. Eggs Benedict, eggs royal, fresh fruit, wonderful breads, cheese , ham, smoothies etc. OMG the chocolate croissants and portuguese tarts hot from oven! Great coffee. So many choices! The dinners were probably best on the island. Food was reasonable in price and well presented. Steak was very tender, seafood fresh and light. Not a fault from beginning to end of stay. Area quiet and safe. Variety store a few minutes away with wine and snacks for sale. One of the customers there sang a Fado song for me. This hotel is a great place for couples. I think a bit too quiet for families. Reasonable drives to all attractions. Look no further

JJohnny_aExcellent hotel overall. Great location and friendly staff and great grounds/view. The experience there could be dramatically improved with just two small changes:
1. Poolside service - as it is, you have to get your own food and drink. Adding an app or call system would be awesome. A pool waiter/waitress would be amazing.
2. Better mattresses. They felt quite hard, like a budget mattress not appropriate to a nice hotel.

GGuest UserI just returned from a three night stay at this hotel with my girlfriend and our teenage daughter. We have been countless times in S. Miguel as we consider it such a pleasant and beautiful island. This time we opted for a hotel outside the main towns and in fact we managed to do just that. At the same time it is only 20 minutes away from the airport and 15 minutes away from Ponta Delgada or Ribeira Grande, the two main towns. We already visited the nine islands of the Azores archipelago and always get a rental car at the airport (exception at Corvo Island). If you are staying in this hotel, it is paramount that you do the same. As to the hotel itself, we booked it only four weeks in advance on high season, thus we had to pay the full rate of the stay at that moment. Upon check-in on room 206, we were given two identical cards without any distinctive element, one to open the door and the other to insert into the slot for lightening. That is odd, generally, hotels give two identical keys to open the door and one of them, if necessary can be left on the slot when we are out. We were assigned a spacious accommodation with living room, bedroom and bathroom. We did not have sea view and the living room had lots of glass walls overlooking the adjacent condo. All those glasses made it very hot on the sun shining days and we had to keep the AC on during the day. The décor of the room was unstylish and lacking attention to details. The bedroom had a big closet but no clothes rail or hangers. Besides that, one of the doors of the closet could not be opened fully, because it bumped into the shelves that are installed as bedside tables. The safe was old style, that is to say, it closes with a key that we had to ask for at the reception at no charge, along with a cumbersome key ring that we had to take with us whenever we were out of the room. The living room had a well equipped kitchen, that we did not use but it was constantly patrolled by half a dozen ants. We had bought previously some good looking fruits and had to fill a big dish with water and in the middle of it we put a small dish with our fruit so that the ants weren’t able to cross the water in order to get to fruit island. The bathroom was very spacious and pleasant looking even if the washbasin was more stylish than efficient. This room lacked tremendously of a place to put one´s belongings (toothbrush, toothpaste, comb, electrical razor and so on). Amazingly no one foresaw the installation of a shelf. The social areas of the hotel such as the lobby are, again, unstylish, corridors have shabby carpeting. The room where breakfast is served has a view to an outside wall and lacks natural lightening. Breakfast itself has a reasonable variety of items, but by no means is it worth 12 euro per person per day, that in our case we were asked to paid in advance, precisely at the same moment we made the reservation. We absolutely loved staying at DoubleTree by Hilton in the Azores. The hotel, and the rooms, were extremely clean and well taken care of. The staff is super efficient and kind making you feel welcome all the time and worried about your every need. Breakfast was amazing, with great quality and variety. The location of the hotel is perfect for people who wish to get to know the island with easy access to every point you might want to visit. It has free and easy parking right at the door. The indoor pool, sauna and turkish bath are something to die for, definitely worth the visit. Honestly, it was just the best experience and I highly recommend satying at the hotel.
