Rooms in Shrewsbury on our particular day visit were difficult to find. The Station Hotel price suggested a hotel of average quality and suitable for our pressing needs. We were a little stressed in trying to find the hotel and then even more in finding a nearby car park in the one way streets of Shrewsbury (despite it being opposite the railway station) There was a small sign in the window of the hotel detaling a contact number for aranging key delivery! which we missed. Banging on the locked door did not help! Instead we were directed by a neighbour to a pub to collect keys (the wrong pub then directed us to the right pub). The pub staff assisted brilliantly and providd information and keys and a nice welcome. The hotel room was a little small but comfy enough with a shower - but no HOT water. An absolute standard for any hotel. The pub staff again assisted in starting the boiler and everything was fine for the morning. It was an unexpected experience and the price was expensive, considering there was no breakfast! I hope the comments will asist in anyone planning a visit here.

Room was not clean, bathroom floor was nearly rotten through and the whole building smelt of stale smoke. No facilities available other than access to my room. Would have understood if I’d been told beforehand but advert and website lists all facilities as available. Not a good experience.

The hotel is in a perfect location right opposite the train station and very close to the town centre The hotel was very quiet because the bar area is not open at the moment, check in was easy the room was clean and adequate for me the bed was very comfortable, tea and coffee making facilities in the room and the ensuite bathroom was large and well equipped with shower, basin and toilet, the manager that checked me in said if I need anything replenishing to call at their other pub just up the road from the hotel, overall I enjoyed my stay at the hotel it was value for money.

The bar was closed due to covid, so I had to walk with luggage to another pub and wait to be given a key. Room was clean but very cold, heating didn’t go on at all and shower was barely warm. Room was at the front so very noisy until after 3am. Bags of rubbish on the landing which didn’t move while I was there. WiFi very intermittent. Room was tired and very basic, for £69 I felt it was very overpriced. Handy for the station but no staff available, no breakfast, bar closed and bitterly cold and draughty so I won’t be returning.
