We stopped in for lunch as a family of four. The menu was very good with lots of choice and very reasonable. I chose the steak burger which looked delicious. It arrived soggy as the juices had permeated the bun and was cold. The accompanying fries were also cold. My families food was however very good and tasty. Although my wife’s beef salad was also extremely cold, but this may be how it’s meant to be served?. What was really disappointing was the server didn’t return to check on our food, the restaurant was very busy and therefore I was unable to raise any issues. It’s a basic expectation for most good restaurants for the server to check in with diners soon after food is served. We ordered 4 fantastic desserts that were good size and great tasting. It’s a real shame the burger and service let down, what could have been a much better visit.

We were greeted pleasantly and promptly shown to our table. Our order for drinks and good was taken speedily and when the food arrived (the lamb and beef dishes) it was delicious. The dessert I had (can’t remember the full name - it had mandarin orange marmalade) was also superb. We do come occasionally and will certainly come again.

We visited for lunch over the Christmas period and the hotel bar and lounge is a very nice comfortable place to be. However the food was very disappointing . The venison hotpot was overdosed with salt and was poor with a side of pickled red cabbage cold did not work. So much salt could not be eaten. The chicken pie was better but the mash and veg were cold. Poor value for money small portions.

Recently visited the Mytton and Mermaid. We live locally, so thought we would visit on Boxing Day for a treat. The building was beautifully decorated inside and out. There was a lovely ambiance and the staff were very cheerful and chatty considering working on Boxing Day. We ordered from the set menu. Turkey main and pudding with a selection of cheese and biscuits. The turkey meal was small and disappointing. A small amount of turkey, two roast potatoes, one carrot and one dirty parsnip ( which I didn’t eat ) with red and green cabbage . We were disappointed with the lack of quantity and not a sprout In sight!!! We were so looking forward to a traditional Christmas meal. We paid nearly £100:00 for a two course meal with one beer and one wine. We walked away disappointed and hungry. Lessons to be learnt. Not to visit at Christmas 😢

Lovely atmosphere. Friendly staff and excellent, well cooked food. Booking was essential at Christmas and there were plenty of staff and ordering and service was excellent. Parking is limited but we got a space in the car park. Went to the National Trust at Attingham afterwards.

So disappointed Christmas Dinner.. Booked a table for 2, we chose 2 one course Christmas Dinners, they promptly arrived, the portion was so small, I thought that the lady would be back with vegetables but no that was it. For £22 each we had the meat, 1 small pig in blanket, 3 small roast potatoes, 3 sprouts, and a small amount of pickled cabbage. No mash potatoes, parsnips, nothing. When I settled the bill I mentioned the meagre portion to staff but not really interested. The beer is lovely there, surroundings especially at Christmas is beautiful. Today I had a Christmas dinner at a small cafe, at least twice as much food, served hot and less than half the price, I know full well its not just about quantity but obviously quality as well The Mytton & Mermaid dinner taste wise was ok, but the portion was pitiful.

A wonderful venue for our annual Christmas celebration. We were treated to fantastic food, professional, friendly staff, and amazing ambience. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants a little bit of luxury in a beautiful building with great staff and fabulous food. The prices are very reasonable, and the standards are high.

My daughter treated me to birthday coffee on December 5th at 11.15. The staff were disinterested in taking the order. The pastries arrived but we had to remind them twice before the coffees came. Lovely atmosphere spoiled by very poor service.
