I only booked for one night to break our journey to North Wales from London, so my expectations were not that high, I just wanted a bed for the night. The location was within walking distance from Shrewsbury station, down a small alley off the main shopping street. I didn't realise it would get quite noisy, and there was actually a band playing in the pub the night of our stay - our room was directly above it! So we went to bed late! For some this could've been a disaster, but saw the funny side and at least the band were playing songs I liked, and I travelled with ear plugs so did manage to get to sleep. The room was well equipped, comfortable & clean besides this. I had booked breakfast but due to not realising what time it would start from and having to be on an early train, actually couldn't stay for it. To compensate the lady who checked us in kindly offered to make us lunch instead, so we had some sandwiches, nuts, crisps and snacks from the bar to take with us, which I appreciated, as I was travelling with my young son.

Great location and reasonable room rates, very expensive drinks, £9 for a double Morgan’s and coke, we watched a lot of people coming in to watch the band, nursing a drink then disappear at 11pm, otherwise be prepared for an expensive night, room was filthy, dust on most surfaces, ran finger over bed frame and picture above bed and was shocked, shower tray had footprints, heavy black mold stains, carpets badly worn and stained, paintwork grimy, windows filthy, staff vaping in the kitchen and bar area. Loved Shrewsbury but maybe try somewhere else next time sorry
