We visited here for a special anniversary but had a disappointing experience. The rooms are lovely - plenty of space and quite clean. The leisure suite is due to be refurbished and we knew this before booking. Hopefully it will be transformed after August. The restaurant let this hotel down. Our package included dining credit of £29 per person but this was deceiving as we received smaller portions than other diners who were eating exactly the same food even to the point of the food being served on a smaller plate. The fish was just a plate of hard batter and the waitress asked if there was a problem as so much was left on the plate. When we explained the issue she just said “Are you on a deal?”Not quite sure what that meant but no attempt to rectify the situation. Breakfast was very average and again overcooked. Unusually there was no breakfast menu like most hotels so the only hot food available was a full English from the buffet. There was a poor selection of fruit, breads and pastries. Not what we would expect from a 4 star hotel. It’s a shame as the location is lovely and the building fabulous.

Another perfect stay at Derwent manor. Stayed in the angler cottage this time, and as usual, it was lovely. Our first night away with our 1 year old and she loved the room/cottage, restaurant and pool. Cant fault any part of it, food was great, staff lovely and room really big and clean.

SO SO SO amazed by the suite with the valley view - we travelled with our 14 year old son and we had a summer package which included this incredible suite with views, luxury bathroom, living room!! AND Balcony and Dinner and Breakfast - incredible value for money.

Wouldn't stay again. We checked in with our 2 young children last night (4 & 6), everything seemed fine, beautiful decor and very clean. However, we were placed above a function or wedding and music was blasting for hours, we barely slept a wink. Not ideal with 2 little ones! Couldn't fault the food at all. Definitely don't stay if you value your sleep!

I visited a few days ago for 2 nights with my sister and elderly mother. I contacted the hotel by email to make sure we had 2 rooms together and with walk in showers near to drop off as mother had difficulty walking. This was sorted for us. The rooms unfortunately all rooms in the main part of the hotel unfortunately require you to use steps from reception making it somewhat difficult with baggage and if you have a walker or wheelchair. Luckily mother could manage a couple of stairs on getting up the stairs you have to fight with powerful fire doors that don’t stay open on the magnets. When you get through here there is a lift taking you up to the restaurant. Further along the short corridor is another fire doors and turning to our room another fire door. I appreciate fire safety is key but when you are fighting with baggage and an elderly person it would help if the magnets worked. Rooms- we’re short walk from drop off as requested. Had walk in wet rooms with toiletries plus one room had a bio bidet fitted. Good if required.plenty of room in bathrooms. Bedrooms both had 2 double beds and small table and chairs a dressing table and TV. They were very clean and a bottle of wine waiting and 2 small bottles of water. In one of the rooms there was also 2 settees at the bottom of the beds. This made it lovely for me as I was in the room by my self but would have been too cluttered for mother especially in the night getting up. Also I am not sure how people would manage in these accessible rooms with they needed a lot walker or wheelchair. Beds set lovely and slept well. Clean towels the following day and everything replenished. My room handle only worked by pulling up which was very confusing and required another trip to reception. Restaurant- food at night was good no problems we ordered extra starters as could not eat a main meal each. This was no problem, sister is vegetarian plenty to choose from. Given sourdough bread to nibble. Good quality butter. Had salmon for main meal this was moist and succulent. Sweets were lovely also. The cheese board was enough for 2. Our only problem was when it came to the bill, the girl could not figure out why we had an allowance for 3 people and only 2 room cards. The tangling we had spoiled the evening that was so nice. In the end she did take some off but we still paid over for our food that night. The second evening food was just as good. Didn’t get offered any bread to nibble. I had the fillet steak this was cooked as I had requested. Good quality meat. No problems with bill as did not use allowance. Breakfast- on offer cereal, fresh watermelon, honeydew melon, summer fruit, grapes, pastries and only fruit yoghurts as told they had run out of natural yoghurt on both mornings. Bread is kept in large box by the toaster, white and brown sliced. Butter, small jars of jam, honey and marmalade. The cooked food is set under heat lamps bacon, mushrooms, black puddings, beans, fried bread, hash browns, scrambled eggs, frie

We stayed for a wedding on the 12th July . We requested a early check in which was ready as we paid £20 for this as we needed to get ready when we arrived. Early check in was at 1pm was a little rushed as wedding was 2pm but we managed . The ceremony went fine . The drinks after with the canapés didn't seem to have any non alcohol options or maybe they had run out . The wedding Breakfast was lovely the salmon and prawn starter was delicious and the beef . We had a orange and chocolate tart 3 people on our table including us had no cream on it which it came with so that was disappointing. The servers served the wine around but didn't ask us if we wanted a soft drink so we kept having to sort that ourselves a little annoying . The wedding itself the food was very good . I only got frustrated as it seems Hotels only cater for people who drink . Its 2025 and alot of people don't drink nowadays. I asked on the Evening reception at the Bar for Any MOCKTAILS again they don't cater for this it's a shame . We stayed in a family room even thou it was just the 2 of us it was immaculate inside clean and to be fair it was easy for me as I struggle to get about and I got my own double which I appreciated alot . I'm known for fair reviews the only thing I would of change in the room is to have bigger complementary water bottles and maybe a upgrade on the toiletries as they didn't feel very luxurious. The sleep was amazing comfy bed . The Shower was fast and nice and hot . The morning Breakfast was delicious however the Black Pudding was over done alot of the guests mentioned this . However if a few of these issues are addressed I would give it a 10 instead of my 8 . Staff were lovely and friendly I did find them hard to get hold of the weeks before by telephone mind so that maybe needs looked into . Also I understand it was a warm day but the jugs of water on the tables on the wedding tables had no ice in them that could of helped .
