Kamasaki is a bonafide onsen with actual hot spring waters that contain iron oxide so the water isn' t clear but resembles Bath in the UK.
The building is traditional with lots of wooden beams.
The food was not gourmet but homemade and delicious, good value for money.
I stayed here after visiting the Fox Village.
My low ratings are not because of anything bad, just that I had no opinion. I couldn't leave a blank.

First of all, I need to correct the hotel location given by Ctrip. It is called Kamakaki Onsen in Japanese. It may be the result of the automatic translation software. It is called Kamadao Destination Onsen on Ctrip. It is very funny.

This ryokan is not far from Tokyo, quite easy and you can have a side trip to Sendai before coming here. Also easy to go to Zaō fox village, just 15 mins. by bus.
Food is good, vibe is good, onsen is fantastic but the staff is the best!! They are so kind and friendly. I’m impressed!!
