A perfect traditional village pub in a great location oozing Cotswold beauty, history & charm, should have read reviews before booking. Loved the location, the village, the building, and the ambiance. Casual relaxed welcome (unfortunately no offer to help us oldies up the steep stairs with our bags). Pretty quickly realised during afternoon snooze time that our room (3) was badly compromised by loud chatter from the bar below - we could hear every single word, really surprised this has not been more widely mentioned in other reviews- no sleep possible until after the pub shuts at 11 - okay for night owls, but not little old nine-o’clock-bedtime me. We had a nice meal, expensive but that’s what the trendy Cotswolds is about these days I think - especially this close to ‘slebs choice “Chippy” Norton. Blame Jeremy Clarkson - everyone else does. Friendly helpful staff in the restaurant. Lovely spacious room, beautifully and simply furnished (we paid £199) no wardrobe, just door-hooks for clothes (didn’t bother me) comfy bed but pet hate in the bathroom - waterfall shower (no shower cap provided). Toiletries by Austin Austin a bit medicinal for my taste. Continental breakfast perfunctory rather than beautiful (note no croissants) hubby says cooked was a 6 out of 10, scrambled eggs okay, one rather fatty rasher of bacon (did not look appetising to me) but he’s more easily pleased, tomatoes “lovely & tasty - the best bit” he said. Not terribly tempted to stay again, people feel a bit tired and ‘going through the motions’ here, but noisy rooms the real deal-breaker for me.

Visited for dinner while staying in the area. Summary as follows: Food Excellent! Could have selected several dishes from the menu. We had starters and mains and thought both exceeded expectations. Service Very good and at the right level. Location We had a table in the bar, which was perfect. Background music, candles on tables, the overall setting was really well done. Summary I’d have no hesitation in recommending or in fact returning to The Lamb. Wish we lived a little closer 👍

So disappointing. Stayed here for one night as a stopover. Lovely building and village but on arrival we were told the 'included breakfast' as advertised was only a continental and cooked breakfasts were extra. Shown to our room, No 7. We knew it would be a small room but under no circumstances did we imagine the shower cubical would literally be at the bottom of the bed with a cupboard sized toilet that if you were reasonably tall would not be able to sit on without banging your knees on the wall! We did complain but were offered the remaining large room at an extra cost of £150. We declined and tried to make the most of our stay. I have to say the room was pretty clean and the bed comfy but if you book, I advise asking what room. We had a meal in the outside seating area, it was pretty average and reasonably expensive for what it was, as was the wine. The waitresses were very pleasant. It's a shame as it has the makings of being something good. Like another reviewer, I have not had a response after sending my concerns.

We’ve eaten here (more than 15 times) and stayed, once, but after our most recent experience we won’t be back. It used to be so much better but it feels like standards have dropped, costs have been cut and it shows. On our last few visits the staff have seemed inexperienced, the welcome has been offhand and the overall impression we’ve been given is “we don’t care” On our most recent visit we had soggy pizza, a lamb starter that wasn’t as described - the waitress agreed - and a table that was small and so close to the neighbouring one that when people were seated there (as close as a busy train) we decided to leave. We used to love this place, have recommended it and taken friends, but will no more. Absolutely would not recommend.

This was an excellent choice. One never knows when booking just what one will find. But the Lamb Inn has been superb in every way. It is very well run by a small staff who were welcoming and friendly. The building is beautiful as is its position and our room was just great. Both nights we ate in the restaurant which was packed by a mixture of locals and visitors and the food was good
The included breakfast was of the continental variety although one could order cooked breakfasts at an additional cost. The provided breakfast was fine although some cheese would have been pleasant
I have only one gripe which is daft really but the shower base was very smooth and slippery and all one had to do was be aware
Overall full marks for The Lamb Inn, Shioton under Wychwood
It’s position roughly equi distant from Burford and Chipping Norton makes it an ideal base to discover the delights of the Cotswolds

Very friendly and helpful staff. Very central to visiting other villages and town nearby.

Very nice old country pub, quaint, charming. Pub was nice, lots of locals. Wood fires were good. Walls are a little thin so we could hear noise and music from the bar ( but that shut down by 10:45). Rooms at the other end could have been offered as quieter. We had the included cold breakfast which was fine. Hot breakfast looked good.

A lovely pub with lovely staff. The food was very tasty, we both had homemade soup for starters, I had a cheeseburger with "fries"; proper chips would have been better and my wife had the homemade pizza. The shock came at the end with our bill which came to almost £80 which we feel was rather expensive for two soups, a burger, a pizza, one glass of wine and two soft drinks.
