Chose this hotel for a weekend break to celebrate my wife's 70th birthday. First impressions were of friendly staff and a clean room, however the photos must have been taken some time ago because the decor is tired and dated. Loud music was playing in the bar all the while and when we returned from dining out it was still going on until after midnight. Our room overlooked what was obviously the smoking area and whenever it was in use the smell came up into the room. At 1230 a heated argument ensued under our window involving women and the gentleman who signed us in. There were still people there until 1.30. This is obviously a drinking hole, for the locals when everywhere else is shut. Needless to say we did not take breakfast or stay the second night. Although the lady who took our key was very apologetic I am still waiting for a reply to my emailed complaint. I am not holding my breath. I would advise avoiding this establishment if you are looking for a place to stay for a quite weekend break.

Ate here Saturday night, food was superb and great value. I had lunch with a friend recently which I really enjoyed so wanted to try it in the evening. Pub was very busy but service was great and there was a real hub to the place.

Lovely Sunday Roast! We ordered the beef and were impressed by the quality of the meat and as usual the very generous portions!Squeezed in a dessert which was equally delicious as was the coffee.Staff helpful and friendly.Looking forward to our next visit!

The food has gone downhill since Emma left. Overcooked chicken which was difficult to cut. Cold chips and cold plates. Manky salad that was days old. Emma's was always very fresh. Beer was good hence the two stars. The lady behind the bar was very good and organised a refund on one meal

We booked into the White Bear as visiting family in Shipston. . We normally stay in another hotel but no availability Our room was very clean and tidy and very cosy . Room 10 . tripped on the step leaving the room but no damage done .The shower was lovely with plenty of hot water etc We really just needed somewhere to sleep and it was perfect . The staff were very friendly and a great selection of drinks . We asked if we could take breakfast with us ( in a sandwich ) this was no problem at all .The lady serving breakfast was very friendly and helpful on a fine point it could definitely do with a lick of paint and hallway stairs and carpets could do with a refresh but for £100 b & b and free parking for 2 of us it was fabulous. We will definitely stay again Thank you

We had a lovely stay in this quaint little pub. Lovely and clean in the rooms. Right in centre of village with free parking Breakfast was really good and served by a very friendly lady. We had one evening meal and food was 100%. Drinks reasonably priced too. Thoroughly recommend

Well this place has the worst landlady I have ever come across and I travel all around the uk for work. There’s nothing nice to say about this venue at all the food and beer is terrible and to top it off she has a 16 year old apprentice running the kitchen unsupervised with no head she’d in the building when I was there on the evening of the 4-10-2023.. avoid at all costs.
