Residence Inn Shelton Fairfield County

This was the weirdest hotel experience ever. I asked for an extra pillow and blanket and they didn’t have pillows but they had blankets as long as I came and got them from the front desk myself. Huh? The pool was dirty, the toilet ran, and my tv didn’t work. Overall the room seemed clean and it was fine for what I needed but NOT a Marriott hotel. I’m not above getting my own stuff but I’m at a hotel- I just didn’t expect it. It wasn’t horrible, it just was more like staying in a college dorm than a hotel. This place needs a serious management upgrade

Don’t stay here. The stay started out with an extremely rude front desk worker. Then after we got to the room, the extra bedding, pillows, and towels for a family of seven that we requested when booking the room were not there. One on the kids didn’t have a pillow, all the pillows in the suite were used. The in suite doors did not shut all the way. The pull out mattress had stains. On of the beds had small blood stains on the sheets. When telling the front desk of issues no extra pillows were given. The breakfast was of the most poor quality. Do not stay here.

The hotel is in need of upgrading. Beds are not comfortable, rugs are old, and bathrooms need remodels. Ran out of hot water when taking a shower. And as a titanium member I typically get an upgrade. Not here. To get more towels I had to walk to the lobby in the outdoors as the rooms are not connected by a hallway. Parking lot is riddled with potholes. Overall I will never stay here again.

Nightmare ... woken by crackling noise in the kitchen at 4am and upon checking we found our packaged food had been eaten by a rodent (A very large one or two). We found a hole next to the stairs inside where it had chewed through. It appeared the hole had been stuffed with plastic and it was shredded on the floor. We called the front desk and said we will not be staying. I sent the photos to show them. We had to drag our luggage to a new room but decided that if there were rats in our room there could very possibly be some in other areas. No offer of assistance to transport us to another hotel even though there was a Residence Inn van outside. Could have had us wait for a driver to show up. Room rate was refunded but no further compensation offered. We therefore had to pay for 2 rooms to accommodate the additional family members joining us. So we are substantially over budget. Great start to our fun family gathering! NOT!!!

This was a very disappointing experience. The room was poorly stocked (not even 4 sets of utensils in the kitchen, minimal towels and soap) and no sheets, blankets or pillows for the sofa bed, with a large stain on the mattress pad. The fan didn't work in the bathroom, the TV remote didn't work (bad batteries) and there was gum stuck in the living room rug indicating no detailed cleaning routine. Also, no suites available on first floor, so elderly relatives had to be carefully helped upstairs - this should have been indicated/warned during booking process. Very limited hours on the pool which was inconvenient. And, no designated smoking area, so another patron stood at the base of the stairs creating clouds of smoke you had to pass through to get to your room. The positives were one charming desk clerk who tried to be helpful and the breakfast food and area was decent.

I’m surprised that this is still a Marriott property. While the rooms were clean and somewhat up to date, the property is just tired. The bathrooms are the most rundown part of the room. The outside of the buildings look dilapidated and uninviting. The parking lot looks like it was last paved when the property opened in the 1980’s. Security sits outside all night, which is probably why you are charged a parking fee. Marriott needs to build a newer suite property that’s on a par with the Hyatt Place down the road. Will definitely not stay there again.

A perfect hotel stay. This little apartment was clean, well-supplied, quiet and comfortable, had everything we needed. Staff was polite and helpful. We needed use of the pull-out sofa for our 8 yr old boy - this was very useful and easy. Great kitchen area with full-fridge, stove even and dishwasher. I was ready to move in! Highly recommend. We would definitely come back (my cousin lives in the area).
