Morgan and Wells Bed and Breakfast

Warm hospitality, perfectly appointed rooms and common areas, and walkable location to downtown Shelby make this place so special. My friend and I booked the Queen Anne suite which had two lovely bedrooms and a giant bathroom. Wish we could’ve stayed longer!!

Just a superb hidden gem in Shelby. The accommodations were fantastic and the hosts were just super understanding of some unique circumstances due to a difficult family situation. Access was very easily coordinated and the breakfast was really good too. I would definitely go back.

What an absolute delight! Our Christmastime stay at Morgan and Wells was better than I could have hoped for! Our daughter was scheduled to fly out of the country from Charlotte on Christmas Eve. We live in Knoxville, and so decided to make a special trip of it with our family of five (two young adult daughters, my mother, and of course my husband). Morgan and Wells had the PERFECT accommodations for us! My king-sized husband and I had a very comfortable king-sized bed in a large room with a large private bathroom that had double sinks and a huge bathtub (if you love a bath - ask for the Green Room)! My daughters and my mother shared a two-bedroom suite - with one queen and one double bed. My mother had her own private space! They shared a bathroom between them in their closed-door private suite. Everything from the reservation process on the phone to check-in was personal and warm, filled with charm and hospitality. We loved Melanie’s tour of the 100+ year-old house with the stories of how it came to be where it is situated today. I eat a plant-based diet and Melanie was more than happy to accommodate that. I let her know during the reservation process and again when I was pleasantly surprised that she called a few days ahead of our visit to confirm our stay. The food her chefs prepared me on each of our three mornings - including Christmas Eve and Christmas morning was delicious! While my family and other guests enjoyed a lamb dish, I dined on eggless mini frittatas. Plus each morning there were also breakfast potatoes for all, eggs, bacon or sausage, fresh fruit, grits, orange juice, a beautiful pitcher of water with fresh strawberries in it, and sometimes yogurt and granola as well. You will leave breakfast with a full belly and an even fuller heart after sharing your meal with the lovely other guests and visiting with Melanie the hostess herself. I know this is getting long, but I would be remiss not to mention the beautiful festive Christmas decorations throughout the house! The trees were each professionally decorated and looked lovely. We had our choice of two comfortable and large living rooms where my family could gather to open our gifts for each other to celebrate the holiday. We chose the room with the working fireplace, which Melanie had burning each morning when we came down the stairs for breakfast. Melanie and her staff at Morgan and Wells have created the quintessential classic bed and breakfast experience. If you find yourself anywhere near Charlotte- or can make an excuse to get there - definitely plan a stay in Shelby at Morgan and Wells. We cannot wait to go back someday!

Felt welcomed from the moment we arrived. Received a tour of the beautiful house and then were shown our room, which was well appointed. We were within easy walking distance of all the downtown things -- breweries, restaurants, live music, etc. Beautiful and quaint downtown. The bed was comfortable and we slept like the dead. House was quiet even though all of their rooms were occupied. Breakfast in the morning was bountiful and delicious. Parking was easy. If we make our way back to Shelby, we'll be staying here again!

We secured the whole house & it was an "AMAZING EXPERICENCE." I can't "Thank Wanda, Chef Reeves & Amelia" enough - & of course Melanie (owner) EVERYONE made our experience one to remember! The HOSPITALITY from them was everything I had hoped for and MORE!!! BREAKFAST, APPETIZERS FOR EVENT, ASSISTANCE FROM THE COORDINATOR & MOST of all WANDA - INNKEEPER - SHE'S A JEWELL!!

I traveled to Shelby with a colleague for a work session, and we chose to stay at Morgan and Wells instead of the local hotel chains where our counterparts from other regions of the state were staying, and we are so glad we did! Melanie and Wanda were incredibly welcoming, and the home itself is beautiful. The beds, sheets, and pillows all felt luxurious and high-end, and Wanda's breakfast in the morning was one of the best I've ever had. I need her french toast recipe! Everything was charming and spotlessly clean. We took advantage of the great location, and walked to restaurants downtown. We truly appreciated the opportunity to stay in this gem of a place, and will keep it in mind for future trips to Shelby.
