I flew some passengers there for a business meeting and their business meeting suddenly got moved to Great Falls, so we had to change location. I know they have this ridiculous policy that you’re not allowed to cancel your reservation. But this practice really needs to stop so I had to pay for a hotel that I didn’t get. It just seems dishonest to have to pay for things that you didn’t get. I would never charge people at my business for something that got canceled. I am more about treating people the way they should be treated than just sucking up as much money for myself as I can. This happened to me 2 times before, and the other hotels was nice enough to cancel the reservation and not charge me when the circumstances were out of my control. So, it is absolutely not true that most hotels have to always do this charging people full price for something they didn’t get. Just look at the airlines they all have refundable tickets even if you cancel after the flight leaves. Yes, this is true that all airlines do in fact sell refundable tickets. I am a pilot. I use airlines all the time. I know the industry and how it works. Yes, they do in fact have refundable tickets if you choose the refundable ticket option. And even if you do not pick the refundable ticket option, they all still give you credit and you can use that credit later. Airlines don't just take your money and keep it. I have never not been able to get a refund at an airline even after it departed when I buy a refundable ticket or gotten credit for later if I did not purchase the refundable option. They cannot resell these seats after the airline departs but yet they still have enough customer service to always give a refund if plans for the customer changes. Rental cars even give you a refund even at the last minute if you cancel your reservation. Rental car companies don't even ask for your credit card when you book them online or on the airline websites. I can reserve a car and the pay later. Again, I am a pilot I am in the travel industry. I rent cars, hotels, and airlines every week. This is what I do. Even on this very trip I also had to cancel the car I had resaved and set up at the local airport and they did not charge me. This is because rental car companies also have great customer service and want to take care of the customer more than just themselves. I know what I am talking about. I have never been charged for a rental car even if I cancel and plane change after the rental car pickup time. And yes, other hotels have had no problem not charging me when plans changed that were not under my control. It is not true that all hotels do this bad customer service practice. This is why the best western is my last choice for a hotel. Their customer service is just terrible. It is true that this is their policy, but it should change not in modern time to match what everyone else in the travel industry does. They should at least give credit for later. Like I said,
